If we take a QB in the first two rounds, my hope is that that QB's most valuable trait is something other than 'he's NFL-ready'.
IMO, we don't need and 'NFL-ready' QB. We need a 'Super Bowl-Potential' QB. Do you know what 'NFL-ready' means? It means Matt Schaub. It means Alex Smith. It means Andy Dalton. Sam Bradford. Christian Ponder.
Give me the QB's that came out of college with the 'raw' label. Colin Kaepernick. Cam Newton. Joe Flacco.
Obviously, the chances of drafting said 'raw' QB and him busting will be greater (JaMarcus Russell, Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert), but the chances of winning the Super bowl with said 'raw' QB will be greater also.
Can you actually back your claim that the possibility of winning a super bowl with a "raw" QB is greater?

You already know the answer to this.

Whole thread is stupid
Who is the better QB Peyton Manning or Russell Wilson? Peyton Manning
Who got the ring this year? Russell Wilson
If your team is good enough you can win a superbowl provided your QB can make plays on 3rd and take care of the ball

that sounds like a game manager to me. And btw, alex smith killed it against Indy. It was the massive injuries that did in the chiefs, not anything the colts did. Hard to win a game when you have 2nd and 3rd string players in going against the other teams starters
What exactly do people mean when they say a quarterback is raw, anyway?

Winston does absolutely NOTHING wrong except turn a win for the opposing pass rush into a TD. You can see how elite qualities separate good from great. That's about it.
Heck of a great catch by the Florida State tight end there. He's the grandson of golf legend Jack Nicklaus.

I'd define it as a QB who has great physical attributes, but for some reason the mental aspect of the game isn't there yet. Could be that he only started for one year, or played at a lower level of competition and hasn't been tested against top-flight defenses, something like that.
When I think of "NFL-ready" QBs, I think of Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck. I also, however, think of Andy Dalton and Alex Smith. An NFL-ready QB in the draft could easily be taken to mean someone who can be a mid-level starter in the NFL on day one, and they'll spend the next ten years as a mid-level starter before rounding out their career as a backup. Drafting a game manager like Dalton is no bueno, but none of the likely first or second round QBs really strike me as the career game manager type. Something about Dalton just screamed "mediocre" from the very beginning, and I doubt that the Jags want any part of that.
Gabbert was "raw", I don't think it matters if a QB is NFL ready or raw. It matters how good they are, if they're put in the right situation and if they haven't peaked already.

If you actually watch the play, you will a very nice pocket develops for him to step up in right before the edge rush gets there
Thats not elite, thats called athleticism
O'leary bailed him out big time there

If that was Teddy making that play, you would use it as your sig telling everyone who would listen how that proves just how great he is!

Nope, I would be saying he had no pocket presence
