Quote:It's Freddy T all over again, beloved yet aged running back at twilight of career.

Would love to have MOJO back, but if someone else falls in Love with him and

he can top off his retirement, more power to him.  Fast Forward.

2016/17 just after the bye week he will sign a one day deal and retire a JAG as

he is inducted into the Pride at half time.

I wish we were as good with QBs as we are with RBs.... Stewart, Taylor and MJD.
Kapri Bibbs

Charles Sims would be a nice addition to our backfield.

Quote:I'd say we spend a 5th round pick. Toddman can be serviceable and DRob should be much better in his 2nd season. Also Ace could take a few snaps in a Harvin type role. I dont see much logic behind spending a 2nd or 3rd on a rb with two backs already on the roster. A 5th rounder would provide depth and perhaps a backup if Robinson cant hold on to the ball

The logic behind taking a back in the 2nd or 3rd round is actually quite solid.

The "feature back" has been largely phased out in today's NFL offense in favor of either a committee or a more passing-centric attack.  There are very few guys who truly carry the load anymore, and the value of RBs in the draft has fallen in response.  Because of this, you can get a very talented guy who has the skill-set to be the "feature back" on the 2nd day.  Guys like Ka'Deem Carey will most likely be available in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, where their productivity and observable talent far exceeds the value of the pick necessary to select them.

Basically, most of the best RBs are going in the 2nd and 3rd rounds lately because very few teams are willing to take them in the first round.
Quote:My question to the fans is this: If MJD decides to leave (Hope Not), what do you think plays out? Knowing this info going into the draft can obviously alter our strategy for sure. For conversation sake, lets assume that he elects to leave. How do things pan out from there? Provide your re-evaluated draft/free agent acquisitions etc. Can Todman be the feature back for a season? I do hope that D. Robinson can develop because I think he is a gifted athlete. weigh in...
I thought that Ernest Byner was a great running back coach not to knock Terry Richardson because he can only do so much with the talent he has before him. That being said I really didnt see anything impressive from Robinson (of course they couldnt make up their mind what position to have him at) and Todman was okay behind a poor Oline but hes no MoJo thats for sure but then again who is?

The Jaguars have huge needs at interior offensive line especially Center after Brad retired, and pass rush which must be addressed after a decade of failure & QB is dismal too.  Rb is needed if MoJo doesnt sign.

I expect that the Jaguars will draft Clowney DE, sign Mack from Cleveland from Free Agency for Center.  Maybe Michael from seattle for the other side of Defensive End opposite of Clowney, Qb will be drafted in a later round with chad maybe as a back up, or gabbert... rb... i dont know

with so many needs i think they may just trust that either robinson or Toddman can pick up the slack and if not draft next year in the 1st round...
Todman should get more credit, his only start this year was 100+ yards and a TD, not to mention when he got his chances he tookem.

If Robinson can pull a Tiki Barber and learn how to hold on to the damn ball - he and Todman could be an effective duo on their own.  (Forsett still under contract too.)

Upgrades at Center and LG would make this an even better scenario.   These are the reasons I wouldn't draft a RB before the 4th and wouldn't pay a FA any exorbitant amount.

I'm sure they will sign a  upper/mid-tier FA or possibly MJD to be sure and have depth - but I would be fine with Todman and Robinson sharing carries with an improved interior line and some high and tight grip from D-Rob.

BTW - they still have to sign Todman for 2014.  But it's a lock if they want him - he's an ERFA.
Don't know who's going to run the ball. (to an extent)

Don't know who's going to throw the ball. (to a greater extent)

Don't know who's going to catch the ball. (to a lesser extent)

This should be a fun offseason.

Don't know who's snapping the ball to the yet to be named QB

Don't know who's holding back the pass rush while the yet to be named QB throws the ball.

Don't know if I can last 'till the draft...........this is killing me.
Quote:If we were to target one in the draft, we'd have to make sure we grab one with a lower pick and still snag some value... Maybe someone like Lache Seastrunk or Carlos Hyde in the 4th.
there is no way that carlos hyde makes it past the 2nd round maybe not even the first but im on board with seastrunk or tre mason in the 4th if they last

No running back is going in the first round.
Carlos Hyde, Charles SIms, Bishop Sankey are possible candidates to replace MJD via the draft.

Donald Brown and a mid round draft pick.

We have ten draft selections to play with in a few months. And I really feel like we'll end up drafting at least one with those selections. My best guess would be that we spend one of those fourth round selections on a RB like Lache Seastrunk from Baylor or Jeremy Hill from LSU. I think we'll take De"Anthony Thomas out of Oregon too. He's a bit undersized but his speed is impressive and we can always use more speed. He could potentially be one of those typical risers though once the combine numbers start coming in. With all that said, it wouldn't hurt my feelings if Caldwell pulled the trigger on Tre Mason out of Auburn in RD3.
