Former NFL scout Russ Lande believes Georgia's Aaron Murray could be a second day QB option for the Jaguars.
"General Manager David Caldwell learned under Bill Polian and Thomas Dimitroff, who both place a ton of emphasis on film evaluation and college production," Lande writes. GM Dave Caldwell noted the team has a pretty good idea of who their top 5 prospects will be, but he is open to trading away form the No. 3 pick. Lande adds "there is some sentiment around the league that the Jaguars would prefer to select a pass rusher in the first round," leading to a quarterback selection on the second day. The Seattle Seahawks recently took the same strategy, but it is not a common practice
Aaron Murray is kinda a Matt Ryan-lite so who knows.
Murray, McCarron, Mettenberger, Garropolo, ...there should be plenty to consider in the second round.

3 of those qbs are bad news. Mett is the only one id be kinda ok with.
I feel like we could easily wait until the third for most of these type guys.

This is correct, and even Mett is bad news before day 3.
1. Trade back - Watkins 2. Dee Ford (he won't be there lol) 3. Mason 3. Murray 4. Garoppalo
He'll likely be there day 3.
Draft Murray in the 4th, let him dominate against inexperienced backups in the preseason, let his trade value skyrocket like Cousins' did, don't play him in the regular season so he can be exposed like Cousins was, trade him for a day 2 pick in a couple years.
That is the dream scenario for Murray. If he is starting for us in any capacity except for emergency starter or bridge to get us to next years 1st round QB draft pick, then we will be in major trouble.
Murray or chad hene? I'll take Murray

I'd rather take a bullet.

"Bad news???"
Also... that's not necessarily a comprehensive list.

I don't like any of those guys at #39 - with the possible exception being McCarron.
I could see Mettenberger and Garoppolo
late in the second if the Jags had and liked a trade opportunity. (and that would take a really good show from Garoppolo at combine/pro day)
I think Murray belongs in the 3rd or later. His cut-up vs Auburn is pretty ugly.

bullet=Gabbert
Yeah I like Murray I think he will be a surprise in the NFL.

This.
I like him a lot as a 3rd round pick or later....his release, throwing motion, and ball trajectory looks pretty much identical to Drew Brees.

Bam, didn't even get through one full page before the laughable Murray/Brees comp popped up.

Yet somehow we made it through without a QB purgatory reference.
