Nice story. Even with a hearing aid it must be difficult to pick up signals, and especially audibles, when playing on the road.
Did anyone read the article before saying Derrick Coleman's hearing loss is not a big deal? I am guessing people who don't care about it never clicked on that link.

Coleman said the crowd noise does not hurt this ears, but he can feel it and knows it is loud. Of course we all know home games are louder than road games for the Seahawks.
Based on how he described the difference between wearing and not wearing hearing aids, it sounds like they improve his hearing by about 50-60 percent and he only hears 70% of what normal people do with them in. That means even in team meetings and press conferences, he misses a lot of words and needs to lipread.
When Russell Wilson calls an audible, if #40 is behind him, he turns around to look at Coleman.

You just made that up to make me look stupid. Guess what? I have moderate-severe hearing loss, so I know it
is a big deal because of personal experience.
Even when I wear hearing aids, I don't always know what someone is saying. They aren't perfect. One time when I was wearing them I thought "toys" was "doors."
I think the problem with people is unwillingness to understand hearing loss. That is sad because because there are about as many people with hearing problems as left-handed people (10 percent) so hundreds of millions around the world are affected by it. I read somewhere 50 million Americans are hard of hearing or deaf. That means a very small percentage of hearing impaired or deaf boys play football at regular schools and Derrick Coleman was very lucky to get a chance to do it.
