At this point if I was her, I'd never leave the country again!!

The crazy thing about all this is that in a completely separate trial for the murder of the young girl, Meredith Kercher, they found another man guilty. It's completely nuts over there.

It is completely nuts. The case now goes to the Italian Supreme Court I think for a final ruling (I don't know if they even have to take it up, they may just accept the ruling of the Appeals Court).
There is in place a 1984 extradition treaty between Italy and the US which will likely require "Foxy Knoxy" to be extradited to Italy if the final decision goes against her. I did read today that John Kerry may ultimately have the final say on this as the Secretary of State and it will be a tough decision.
Feel bad for the boyfriend too, Raffaele Sollecito, who is an Italian citizen and was detained this week near the Austrian border. He was released but his passport was surrendered and he cannot leave the country. He was this dopey kid who looked like the Italian Harry Potter and fell for Foxy- they had the wild little romance in Perugia then this happened.
Reading on what happened to Meredith Kercher, it seems pretty unlikely that either one of these lovebirds would be capable of such violence. Even the guy convicted, Rudy Guede, seems somewhat more of a low grade second story man than a murderer. But then again, Albert DeSalvo (the Boston Strangler) was considered a nuisance criminal too.
It will be another 12-15 months before this plays out and extradition proceedings start.

Quote:I didn't follow the case either, but it sounded today like it was cut and dry guilt. How did she get off the first time?
This is what happens when people just accept the microwave media or prosecutor version of a case.

And that guilty verdict was apparently thrown out: http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/08/europe/ita...anda-knox/
Completely forgot about this story until someone mentioned Italy somewhere. Then looked it up to see if anything happened, and apparently it did.

What a completely bizarre story. It just seemed like the entire Italian government was hell bent on railroading her. That, or just soaking the American embassy for every penny they could.
