Quote:Petty didnt have that bad of a game against UCF.
Your right but he missed some critical throws down the stretch and he looked lost when pressured
Quote:if your sitting at 6-10 or 7-9 there is a fat chance you will be getting a truly good qb at that draft position.

Petty is overrated.

Hundley has looked like garbage against actual defenses

Mariota has gabbert esque pocket presence

Winston needs a gallon of WD40 polish
What are you twelve?

Just being sensible, something that you lack
My way of thinking is why trade back this year and stockpile picks which we would need to do in order to trade up next year for an uncertain QB when we can just stay at #3 and pick a perfectly viable QB prospect this year.  There won't be another QB like Luck for a long time (Winston isn't close to Luck either..watch his windup delivery)

I hate it when people say we should wait till next year.  You can't keep waiting till next year.  Man up and pick the guy you think is going to be the best.  The fear of drafting a QB is crazy.

I wouldn't trade back.......unless we really got a really sweet deal.....kinda like what St. Louis got. And who knows, maybe the best QB of this class will be picked in a later round. Mett? Fales?

Mett is questionable at best, had only one good year. Played with a top 10 o-line and was throwing to the likes of Beckham and Landry with Jeremy Hill toting the rock.

Now I like Fales, Poor mans Teddy.

I think teddy is much more polished than Winston but Winston has some physical traits you can work with

Wow captain obvious, ya think? Bridgewater has started for three years compared to Jameis' one year.

Hence why I wouldn't draft him after his freshman year. I want Winston to get 2 more years on college. Refinement is key.

Well you may get your wish. He wants his degree.

I hope he does stay. It will piss the Gator fans off, and we'll have a good chance of three-peating.

Most likely so. You guys also have a top 5 class too.
Quote:Say the Jags trade back out of the top 10 and receive a next years 1st in the process. Do you hold off on drafting a high round QB for a chance to package your 2 first rounders for Winston, Petty, Hundley, or Mariota?
No.....?  Bridgewater is better than 3 ofthe 4 QBs on that list.

You are comparing Luck in his 3rd year as a starting QB at Stanford vs Winston's freshman year.  And FYI, Luck's freshman year was nowhere close to the year Winston just had.
I would be happy trading back and getting a first next year from someone if Clowney or Bridgewater isn't there.  The Jaguars aren't one player away.  You don't need the QB to be perfect or Andrew Luck if you have a solid team around him

I would be more inclined to trade down under those circumstances, but there are limits.

I would still stay in the top ten, and try not to trade down past Oakland...7 at worst.

One other caveat:  I think if you honestly believe you have the chance to get a franchise QB (or at least a darn good one), and you need one, I wouldn't wait until everything is in place around him before taking him.  It's much harder to find even the good but not great QB than it is to find any other position.
Yes and no.

If Teddy isn't there at 3 i'd be willing to trade out to 10-15 for a first next year and a 2nd this year.  I'd still take a Qb tho.

I love how people can just decide to trade down like it's an easy option.  You do realize that there has to be a willing partner to make that trade?

If Teddy and Clowney are gone, trade down

Hell no grab a franchise qb and move forward
