What is this guy thinking? During the Senior Bowl, I saw the first 10 picks for his most recent mock. I don't remember all of them, but he thinks the Texans pick Clowney at #1 and we, despite having our choice of Teddy Bridgewater, Johnny Manziel, or Blake Bortles, pick Anthony Barr. Exactly how would that make any sense?

Jeremiah does agree with me on the Browns picking Manziel if he is still available at #4. He thinks Bortles will slide to the Vikings at #8.

I hope this does not happen. Not at 3 anyway.

If its a trade down, add picks and still get Barr at like 5 or something, then okay....I'd be fine with that....but at 3? I'd hate it.

Because, contrary to what you're set on, we do not need to pick a QB in the first round no matter what. That pick shouldn't necessarily be Barr instead, but there are just as viable if not more so routes to go with the third pick in this draft than a QB.
Even with a trade down I would hate it. That is where he put Teddy Bridgewater.

Matt Smith, who I had never heard of, also mocked us to get Anthony Barr. Bucky Brooks and Chris Davis have him going to Atlanta.

If you like Bridgewater, Manziel, or Bortles and he is available, you pick him. Only an idiot would pass (pun not intended) on the best quarterback in the draft when he is there for the taking.

1.  We will almost certainly go QB with our first pick, but...

2.  Anthony Barr is an excellent player we'd be lucky to have.

It shows you the QBs in this class aren't can't miss prospects, at least to many scouts they're not.

I think Manziel and Clowney have the best chance of being superstars in the league.

Also, how can you hate picking someone at #3 and be OK with it at #5.  There's not a huge difference between #3 and #5... Of course trading back and getting your guy would be ideal, but lets not pretend that taking someone at 3 is bad and 5 is good.

value, you said it yourself that Clowney and Manziel (and add Bridge) for me, have the best chance to be superstars in this league....well, if you are trading out of those superstar picks, down to 5, you better be gaining a bunch of value in terms of draft picks. Or else its stupid to just take Barr there at 3 and let a "superstar" fall to 4 for nothing.
Well that assumes they think just like we do.

Maybe they think Clowney, Manziel, and Barr are the top 3 players by far.

It doesn't matter.  If the team at #5 is trying to short-change you and offers you crap to move up to #3, you stay put.

Or maybe there's only 1 elite prospect (for me it's Clowney) and the next 6-7 guys are kind of comparable?

Unless of course no one wants to trade up.

just because u think they will be a superstar doesnt mean they think that.

He hasn't thought that far ahead.

Bingo!  The only reason any of these QBs is considered a top 5 or even top 10 prospect is because there isnt an elite one at the top.  But since QB trumps everything else, their stock gets inflated.

Barr is considered one of the best overall prospects in this draft.  And he fits a position of dire need for us.  So if a mock draft doesnt have us taking one of these QBs, he is a very logical selection for us.

The #5 team is Oakland. If the Raiders want to trade up, it will be to beat hte Browns to Manziel.

You don't know that.

I think Minn is the team we could trade down with that would be willing to trade up. I would think about trading with them if we could get their 2nd this year and their 2nd next year

That is what everyone said last year: supply does not meet demand, so guys like Matt Barkley will go in the first round. What happened? Only one quarterback went in the first round.
Quote:You don't know that.

That is a real possibility. But more likely they would want to jump over both the Browns and Jaguars to get their quarterback if they are that worried about it. I hope they stay at #5.

I would rather trade with another 4-12 team for their second so we can get a pick higher than #39.
Barr to the Jags wouldn't surprise me.  I am starting to think more and more the Jags are looking at this draft to further fill holes.  If the right guy falls to the 2nd or 3rd round they might scoop him up, but I just have a feeling that they will go pass rush no matter who is on the board, even if its Bridgewater, who if there, will probably provide an opportunity to trade down like so many people want.  I don't know if it is the right decision or not, but I just think this scenario is most likely given the varying viewpoints on the QBs and still so much to do with the roster.
