In honor of the Covers thread I thought we could start one on the worst covers you have heard.

I nominate Sheryl Crows cover of Sweet Child of MIne...its a travesty.

Runner up, American Pie cover by Madonna, almost as bad.

I nominate this one.........

Agreed with both of those.

Horrible.

Thats actually a terrible choice as G N R do a good job with Knockin on Heavens Door.....
This would be a much better representation of a bad cover and even by  the same band......

Another bad cover right here, Poison covering the Who. It literally sounds as if they recorded this in their garage.

That is awful.  Oh wow, that is so bad.
I like the Rolling Stones. It's rare that anybody can cover them really good. I do enjoy "Wild Horses" probably the most from their songs. And Chris Cornell is the only cover I can tolerate, and that's being modest, because I am a big fan of his work.

However, this cover by Susan Boyle is so boring. It just doesn't work for me.

Can't stand Big and Rich's cover of AC/DC"s "Shook Me All Night Long". Not a big country fan to begin with, but taking a classic rock and roll tune like this from one of the greatest bands of all time is madness. It flat out bothers me. I make fun of most country songs by just replacing every word with "Herp-ah-derp" in a country accent. Can't stand it.

LOL, that reminded me of what it might sound like if Jewel covered that song. Laughing Laughing

BTW, Caldrac what did you think of The Sundays version of Wild Horses that I put in the other Covers thread?

A lot of covers done by artists in the past decade+ have the same issue - the person covering the song takes the cajones / soul out of the song. The cover of "Listen to your heart" that was originally done by Roxette, and neutered by another artist years later is an example of this.

It's respectable. I like it. It's a lot better than Boyle's. And they didn't try to spin off and away from the original sound of the Stones'. I actually dig that chick's voice quite a bit. I know that I have heard it before though. It was in "Obsession" or "Obsessed" with Mark Wahlberg and Reese Witherspoon, during the infamous "rollercoaster" ride scene. Ahhh youth. Miss my teenage years. LOL.

Her name is Harriet Wheeler and yeah, her voice is really good and even haunting on that Wild Horses cover.

You might recognize her on this one which was the song that was their breakthrough song back in 1989 ish....
