Quote:More blind hate for Roger Goodell. The owners vote for any and all changes that happen in the NFL. Direct your hatred elsewhere and stop parroting what you read by other morons.
Exactly. I will never understand why people think just because Goodell says something, it is his idea, when he actually said it was someone else's idea.

To create more excitement on the extra try after touchdowns.

Golf needed another major.
Also this would make kickers even more useless in fantasy football.
I wouldn't mind moving extra points back a bit, so they aren't as automatic as they are now. Abolishing them is just plain stupid.

So why not just have them every time instead of kicks?

How far back do they need to be to not be automatic?

Pushing the line of scrimmage to the 10 yard line would still allow for a fairly easy kick, but it's not guaranteed like that current ones practically are.

From my understanding, it was adopted as a secondary option.
Plus the non-AFL owners at the time would have voted down the option to remove the PAT.

When you said AFL my first thought was Arena Football League. In that league, the clock does not stop until after the PAT is attempted.
Yeah, I don't get it.
I mean, is the NFL getting bombarded with complaints about how people the extra point?

Before the AFL merged with the NFL, the TPC existed a few years prior to the merger, after the two leagues came together, it somehow got abolished.

Morten Anderson comes to mind before that.
Check that. That wasn't an extra point.

That does not make it less important to the Jaguars.
Goodell is ruining football. If he continues to run things they will eventually abolish tackling. National Flag League

Only someone who does not know what the competition committee is can say this.

This was the 2nd play that came to mind for me.
The first being almost a year later when the Lions scored a TD in the last few seconds of the 4th QTR against the Vikings to cut Minnesota's lead to 28-27. Lions LS Don Muhlbach, who is still with the team and went on to have a very good career, had a low snap on the PAT attempt. Holder Nick Harris, the eventual Jaguars Punter, couldn't get the ball placed in time for Jason Hanson to attempt the PAT. It was a horrific loss but one that demonstrates why the PAT needs to remain part of the NFL.
Quote:Some changes are good, so I would not make a blanket statement like that.
I don't agree with you at all, the only thing I'd change is the excessive amount of commercials. It's ridiculous how they go on commercial after a score, come back for the kickoff and then go back to a commercial.

So you don't think it was good to add a 15-minute overtime, create a 12-team playoff format, invent a replay system, realign the divisions so that they all have four teams, and replace Astroturf with the more realistic Field Turf? Those are all changes the NFL made. If you think all changes are bad, you must think all of those things are bad too.
Back the LOS back to the 30. Make the teams really consider going for two.
Hmmmmm....I don't hate the idea.
It's different....might have legs.
