We also need a QB.

It makes no sense for the Browns to trade with us to grab Johnny.

It does only if we aren't interested in Johnny but another team (Raiders) are and willing to trade up as well.
But even if we are not interested, the Browns don't know that.

For all intents and purposes, the Browns need to trade up to #2..

The Browns need a QB, as do we. We shouldn't let them get our pick without a king's ransom.

How do u know Houston dont want Manziel?
Quote:Predict it all you want but the browns are not that stupid (even for the browns)

Dude you realize Lombardi is their GM right.

I don't.  I am responding to this thread - which implies Manziel will be available.

u said the Browns need to trade to number 2. not if they want Manziel and Manziel is the top player on Houstons board
Well yeah no shht
I want the Browns to trade up with the Texans so they can get Manziel, I then want the Falcons to trade with the Rams to get Clowney then we get our pick of whatever. I do not like the sounds of the Texans having both Watt and Clowney...that sounds scary.

Quote:Why?  I don't see them as a threat to take Manziel and I don't see another team looking to trade up to 2 to pick him ahead of Cleveland.  I suppose it's possible but I don't think it's likely at all.

Any team that needs a quarterback with a top five pick is a threat to take Manziel.
I am NOT trading down if Clowney is at #3.

Not uh. No way.

Quote:You don't trade with the team you think is going to take your player, you trade with the team in front of the team who is going to take your player.

The insinuation is that Cleveland will be spooked into thinking we want Manziel, and thus jump in front of us.

I know. My theory involved us not wanting to select Manziel (partially because I don'y feel we will.) at 3.
Quote:Who is the "them" you're referring to here?

Because I think the threat would be us taking him at #3.

St. Louis. I guess I don't see us as a threat nor would I pick Manziel at 3. Could Caldwell do that? Yes. The situation is being brought up that Caldwell does not want Manziel as his QB.

I get the feeling more and more that we don't take a QB at 3.
tbh I would imagine that cleavland would try to trade with us first and offer their first and a second rounder and maybe something later, rather than giving up both of their first round draft picks to move up two spots.  It would be smarter on their part because I can't see anyone else that desperate for a QB that has the ammo in this years draft to move up to #2

Why would the Browns want to trade with us knowing we also need a quarterback? If I am Michael Lombardi, I will leapfrog the Jaguars by trading with the Rams. Anything else would be stupid.
The Browns wouldn't bother asking us because they know we're waiting for Clowney or Bridgewater to fall to us.

The real question is: Will Cleveland have hired a coach by then?

I have an odd suspicion that Jack Del Rio will be he next HC of the factory of sadness by default.
I think the presence of Cleveland, and their need for a QB, bodes well for us. Teams see Cleveland sitting there at four wanting a QB, and know that Caldwell might be willing to drop back a little, so it makes us an obvious trade partner.

Keep the phone lines open Dave!!!

Quote:We're always out of position when it comes to this.....smh

I don't think we are

The Texans take teddy.the browns trade up and take Manziel

That leaves us with 1 top 10 QB on the board in bortles the top de and if one tackle say matthews distances himself from the pack the top tackle

all it takes is the raiders vikes or falcons to fall in love with one of those players all positions of need and we have a trade

Remember the rams are projected to take Matthews or Watkins at 4 which also is how I project Tampa or buffalo going so maybe one of those will want to leap frog to get that top tier talent

2 would be better but a trade is highly likely in my book
