Quote:Someone will have to tell me how Watkins + Shorts would be so dominate when we have hot garbage throwing to them.  With a competent QB Shorts is a two time 1,000 yard receiver already...

for everyone saying trade for a QB...what do we trade and for who?  The hot names out there it would seem are Foles and Cousins...neither of which are going anywhere except back to camp with their current teams...

Shorts should've had 1000yards WITH hot garbage (as you say) throwing to him. Unfortunately, he's had a hard time staying healthy. He's a marked man since he's the only real threat now. Caldwell is not going to reach for a QB if his guy(s) don't fall to him. This is not a 1 year rebuild and bang...we're in the playoffs. What good is a mediocre QB if he doesn't have the pieces around him? Personally, I think one of Caldwell's QBs fall. But if not....gotta go value whether that be Watkins, Clowney, Mack or whoever. Then maybe invest in a Garoppolo or someone the like. Then there's next year's draft.
He has had a hard time staying healthy for the entire year...but you put Manning, Brees, Matt Ryan, or heck even Tanninhill back there and he breaks 1,000 yards the last two years even with the injuries.

I am not advocating you "reach" for a QB even though if the guy is a franchise QB then you never really reach for them...but I am also not advocating we keep waiting...the QB position is the most important position in all of sports...and as a team we can't keep putting average back up quality people on the field as our starters...and we can't just hope we find a guy in the later rounds (i.e Garoppolo) and think he will be anything more than what we have.

I also agree this is not a 1 year build, but I don't see Khan sitting around with 3 - 5 win seasons each year either...the fans will eventually stop coming to the stadium if that is the case...

You can bring back Henne and Gabbert, but IMO this team must bring in very legitimate talent at the QB spot as well...not just another guy that sucks worse than them to try and make them look better.

Watkins is a playmaker, but another starting caliber WR can be found later in this deep draft for the position. With Clowney and Robinson taken in this mock at picks 1 and 2, I can not imagine the Jags passing on the highest rated QB on their board. To wait until round 2 and taking a QB with far less talent, with much less odds of success, just does not make sense to me.
Imagine the excitement in May when our pick comes up. My heart rate will be going 100mph.....lol
Quote:I think it would be stupid for this team to pick Watkins at 3 because not only would you be passing on Clowney, Bridgewater or Manziel, but this draft is loaded with high level WR and you could get a guy like DeVante Adams or Benjamin later who could be better producers at the position than Watkins at the NFL level.

Working the draft is about getting the most value out of the most selections.

TMD...What do you think of that 6'6 Wide Receiver out of Rutgers (Coleman?)...Isn't he in your neck of the woods?

I will revolt if we take a WR at #3. We need a QB...at #3

haha....I'm gonna need a couple of drinks beforehand I think.....if Blackmon is allowed back and when Joeckel comes back, it'll seem like we're getting 3 first round picks since we've only had glimpses of Blackmon and Luke only had a couple of plays at LT.

Brandon Coleman, 6'6", 220. Decent WR prospect. Don't know if I'd use our 3rd rounder on him....but maybe he slides to the 3rd day...

45 or so catches this year for around 700 yards. 10 TD's.
If Clowney is not there trade back for everything we can get.

If Clowney is not there, Bridgewater is. Pick Bridgewater.

What makes you think we don't need a quarterback more than anything else?
This waiting is annoying as well hoping they pick the right player. I give up. Jags should just draft Leon Sandcastle and call it a night.

haha....yeah it is.....in the meantime, from what I heard on the Gus Bradley Show, they are in top gear......spending part the day re-evaluating the players they have on film.......and the rest of the day evaluating free agents and draft prospects. These guys are busy....NOW

Because Bridgewater is not worth a top 3 pick and this idea we should draft a QB in the first round no matter what when there are far superior players available is silly. It's not smart drafting, it's reactionary drafting.
