Quote:I've heard Orgeron's name thrown around. Would be good imo. He can recruit his tail off and is a very good coach.
We might as well put ourselves on probation and reduce our scholarships now if we hired Orgeron.

your team wins a national title and you take shots at the best conference in college football from up on a high horse. florida state has the most loaded team in college football. congratulations. but playing in the best conference in college football, going up against the best teams more often attracts the highest level competitors. Pruitt went to georgia because the SEC is the upper echelon. you make a name for yourself that way. or he could stay at FSU on the most loaded team in a weak conference...... The best always want a challenge.

I expected him back at FSU and then to be considered for HC gigs the following year. I don't get how this changes anything for the better for him. Must be more to it.

Yes and Jimbo has a track record with assistants leaving. There is definitely more to it.

I'm not taking a shot at the whole SEC. I was taking a shot at Georgia, who has underachieved for 30+ years.
So you can't make a name for yourself at FSU, but only in the SEC? I guess Mark Stoops didn't make a name for himself in his three years at FSU. Or Mark Richt when he was the OC at FSU.

as someone with pretty good sports knowledge, yeah you know those guys from there. but to just an average fan, they know richt from georgia, they prob dont even know who stoops is. not exactly what i was saying anyway. i just mean the best programs in the country are all part of the SEC or some schools are turning into more lofty programs. the USC's, texas, oklahoma big time programs are starting to become less appealing.
i know there is good football out there outside of the SEC, but the stigma surrounding the conference is becoming hard to overcome.

But it wasn't hard to overcome for FSU. They won the Title and first team to knock off the SEC from the title in 7 years. It was a lateral move regardless if you add the SEC into the equation. Actually, he will probably make less money because of the taxes and is going to a worse team. He isn't going there because of the SEC. He may be going there because there is some connection with Richt or someone else on the team or he had an issue with Jimbo.

A couple guys I play cards with who are normally pretty linked in told me he was having an affair with an intern and his wife caught wind of it an laid down the ultimatum, leave Tallahassee or we're done. Not sure what the change of scenery is gonna do. If the guy s a lil Petrino in him, it isn't gonna magically disappear. It's a shame cuz he is a solid coach, but you shouldn't get married if you're not ready to commit to a woman. ..unless you feel like giving half (or more) of your stuff away.

One of the [BLEEP]. AD's called 1010, knew Ballou and all that. Was defending the accused girl and vehemently denied that accusation.

Yeah, I mean it's not like it's going to get any better by moving to Athens. Plenty of hot co-eds there as well.
