We are nearing the official start of Senior Bowl week in Mobile, Alabama, which means the players who will be attending the festivities are beginning their preparations for the most important job interview of their lives.

The players will spend the week working out in front of NFL scouts and personnel from around the league, which can help boost their draft stock with an impressive performance.

One of the players who will be participating in Mobile, Vanderbilt wide receiver Jordan Matthews, is taking some impressive measures to make sure that he is fully prepared for the game and so that he is able to put his best foot forward.

According to Senior Bowl Executive Director Phil Savage, Matthews requested game film on all of the cornerbacks who will be in Mobile so that he can study their game and pinpoint their weaknesses.

It is an impressive measure from Matthews and one that will certainly grab the attention of NFL scouts as they get a glimpse of the preparation that Matthews puts into each week. With his dedication to improving his craft and the professionalism that Matthews is already showing, he could be shaping up to be one of the biggest stars in Mobile for Senior Bowl week.
With all the hype Evans and Benjamin have been getting, Matthews is being slept on big time. If he somehow drops to the second, he's an absolute STEAL.

This is such a deep WR class. If we do decide to go WR in the second round, there should be some good ones available.

Love Jordan Mattews. I think he'll be a good one.

Any chance we trade up for him? With Blackmon a luxury. We need a #1 for our new QB
Matthews is a good prospect, but barely a top 10 prospect in this insane WR class. He's clearly behind Watkins, Evans, Lee, Adams, Robinson, and Benjamin. To me he's in the next group with the LSU guys, Cooks, Coleman, Richardson, etc.  He will have trouble getting separation in the NFL. I wouldn't take him until the 3rd.

He has better hands and is a better route-runner than Evans/Robinson/Benjamin. They *might* have the edge in athleticism, but I doubt it's a huge edge. I do like Adams, but need to watch more of him. Odell Beakum Jr is another kid being drastically slept on. Maquise Lee is a massive question mark to me because I don't know which player he truly is.

Benjamin had trouble getting separation in the BCS title game. Matthews rountinely got open against SEC opponents.

So? SEC secondaries were terrible this year. Heck, SEC defenses in general were just terrible this year. People gotta stop worrying about competition so much it literally means next to nothing in evaluations.

At QB maybe not. But other positions its a good guage. Benjamin is a freak, physically but his hands are made of bricks, and too often he cannot separate from smaller, physical corners.

The same thing was said about Keenan Allen.

Matthews may not be a superstar, but he's going to have a very nice NFL career.
Kelvin Benjamin is not better than Matthews. Everyone has fallen in love with his size. They forget that he had a Heisman throwing to him. Bad route running and suspect hands, these are his flaws and those are Matthews strength. No one makes it in the NFL with poor route running. Id rank Matthews higher than Kelvin and would go as far to say that Matthews is behind Watkins and is maybe just a slight notch below Evans

Cosign.

I didn't knock the guy either. Saying he's a 3rd rounder in what looks like an all time great WR class top to bottom is still pretty high praise. He's just not in the elite tier of this class that's all.
I think a great way to draft is to look at which positions are very deep, and then draft that position in the 2nd-4th rounds.

Maybe we will use one of our extra 4th/5th round picks to move up and get another 2nd round pick and grab a guy like Robinson or Matthews.

There are some definite starters at WR this year - we need to get one.

I wouldn't mind using a 4th as well and grab the best available RB, because the RB class appears to be pretty deep too.

I got you.

Agreed

Yea Matthews is a better WR then both of them, they just played with two of the best QB in college football, in Johnny Manziel and Winston
