Quote:The browns are rebuilding. I feel like there is too much value in two first round picks to move up for any QB but Teddy who will be off the board likely. I doubt Cleveland trades either picks. If anyone trades up it will probably be for Clowney.
Yup I dont see the Browns giving up that much, these QBs are good but they are not RG3 and Luck type prospects, plus the Browns can stay put and get 1 of the 3 top QBs or even get Carr with their 2nd 1st round pick, so no reason for them to give up a lot just to go up.

Personally, I don't think any of them are top 5 worthy.
Quote:I'm totally with you on Carr. I wouldn't mind Bortles after a certain spot in the first round. Just don't want him at 3. It would be overdrafting him. Better value would still be on the board.
You dont draft for value with QBs in the 1st round. if you think hes a franchise guy you take him when youre on the clock.

Says the guy that wanted us to draft Geno in the 1st last year when we could of got him in the 2nd. Ok, makes sense

The "franchise guy" is a value pick.
Caldwell is young and knows his reputation is on the line. I think he will pick the best available player, regardless of position.

He is not an all-BAP guy. He drafted five defensive backs and a wide receiver when we needed them. Luke Joeckel was the only BAP pick.

I guess you are right. I mistakenly thought the thread was more about the first round picks.

Well yeah it is, but to call David Caldwell a BAP guy is to say he does that all 7 rounds.

If he is there at 3 and he is our man, we have to take him there and then. I don't see him getting past Cleveland and Oakland.

Here is the problem: the Browns can leapfrog us to pick him like we jumped over the Rams in 2012. Then he would
not be available to us. In that case, trading down might not be a bad idea.

Which is why I used the magical word 'if'.
Point being you can't trade back and get Bortles, just not going to happen.
Teddy
Clowney
or
Bortles
at 3 and I will have a happy Friday.

That depends on what the Browns and Raiders think of him. I really don't want him anyway if his only advantage over Johnny Manziel is size.
The Browns are the first team to look at for a trade up because they have two first round picks. Even though the Browns have a lot of needs and should probably stay put. Rams would probably be targetting Matthews, then they would have the fire power to trade up in this loaded WR class.

Other than QB and RB, what other glaring need to they have?
It's beyond [BLEEP] to trade a second first round pick for an undersized QB, but it's the same organization that traded up for Trent Richardson to who knows. Honestly I think if Cleveland drafts Johnny he will be a bust, simply because that organization is horrible and trading up for Manziel just has all the makings of bust.
Why would I be upset that the Browns and Vikings single-handedly giftwrapped Clowney to us?
I'd be more upset if we picked Bortles while Clowney was still on the board.
Bortles is going to be the Gabbert of this class, gets drafted way to early and turns up to be a bum.
Bortles doesn't shrink under pressure but I think he will have pick problems and will amount to game managing to lower his mistakes.
