That's not proof Saban was going to let him go, lol. Lane himself said that if he didn't get the FAU job, he'd have stayed at Bama, which is also the sentiment that I've heard from people who actually know what's up with the program.

Quote:Don't write off guys like that heading to FIU either.

South Florida has some really good recruiters down there now fighting for guys.

Oh for sure! Just was a rumor regarding them going there. They did pick up Deandre Johnson, the QB from FSU and First Coast HS that punched a girl like a week afterrible getting on campus.
And he nabs him the ex FSU QB who was sent packing after punching a woman in a bar.

Whoop whoop!

Stay Classy Kiffin.

Yeah...no one deserves a second chance. Lol

Plus he was already going to FAU before Kiffen got the job.

Plenty of people deserve second chances.

Maybe he deserves one, maybe not...

Wouldn't be a kid I'd want, personally. (Did you see the video? Socked ol girl real good)

Also.. Kiffin is garbage and I'll pretty much ridicule everything his name is tied to. lulz

My son is a GA with the football team at FAU...it's just coming out, but it's not new news. Coach Ticketts brother was the kids qb coach when he was in juco.
By all accounts Deandre Johnson is a great kid that got caught in an awful situation in that bar.  He's more than admitted he was at fault and shouldn't have done what he did.

You taking it out on him because you don't like the football coach speaks more about you than him or Kiffin though.

Edit:  Kiffin could still be an absolute piece of trash, but this is a great opportunity for Johnson.  An offensive coach that is great with qb's and knows what he's doing.  Kiffin will do all he can to hold it together.   This is his last shot.

Fair enough. I can only go by what I know. Maybe he had a verbal commitment...

Nice..

this is what is wrong with kids these days. You make excuses for them. He shouldn't have been there. He shouldn't hit a woman.

but it's all good. He's really a good kid.

I don't take anything out on him. I haven't seen him. Don't speak to him. I made an opin comment on a message board about how I don't like what he did and he wouldn't play for my team. And my opinion of Kiffin is separate from my opinion of the kid. But Kiffin being ousted by Saban (demoted and forced to find a HC job) and then went running around and falling into an FAU job is a great laughable scenario to me. I'm not some scorned TN or USC fan. I just never liked the smug bastard.

Maybe that does say a lot about me as a person.

And I'm certainly OK with that.

Not pro violence.

Not pro Kiffin.

Stingy with 2nd chances

Kiffn tuned Saban out after he was barked at with less than a minute left in a game they were up 28 points.

In all honesty Kiffin wanted to be a head coach and he's a good one, but he had to start at a small school.

Everyone deserves a second chance, no one lives in a glass house. I am pulling for Johnson.
Except you have zero clue that he was demoted and forced to find a head coaching gig.  You are assuming quite a bit.

So saying that an 18 year old kid that did something incredibly idiotic shouldn't deserve a second chance?  I sure hope you never have a kid that screws up because if you do I hope you toe that line that your following in this thread.  He could be a complete knucklehead, but he could also be a kid who learned his lesson and can do something good with his life.  According to you we shouldn't give anyone that chance.  How sad.

You can act like your taking some morale high ground, but you just sound like a pompous jerk.

That is called life. You live, and you learn, and you grow off of screw ups, even major ones.

I wish I lived in the glass house you have lived in all your life. I wish I was a Saint like you.

I am under the belief that with this second chance at the HC carousel, he will make the most of it and be pretty dang good. I think his past experiences are great teachers, and being in the Saban program will pay off big time with him.

Shouldn't have been there? He's a college kid in a bar that's 18+ to enter. What's he supposed to do? Sit in his dorm and not have a life outside of football?

Yes.

I mean... maybe not sit in his dorm doing nothing.

But don't be in places where bad things happen to "good kids"

Nothing good happens after midnight.

I mean... how much life have you lived?

I've been 16, 18, 21, 30... The bar scene doesn't change. It's bad.

If I'm a coach. I don't want my kids in those situations. I don't care if you're old enough. Someone is going to put you in a position you don't want to be in.

If you're an NFL player... I don't want you going out during the season. And if you do you better not get in trouble, as a grown man the excuses aren't there anymore.

Go read. Be a better student. Study your game be a better player. Go visit with family and friends at the house. Go play video games with some buds.

Sorry. I won't be making excuses for these kids. That's how you get Justin Blackmons and Greg Hardys and Josh Gordons, Aaron Hernadez. Guys that just never get it right because they are always doing wrong and someone always gives them a second chance. And in most instances hurt others just as much as themselves.

But hey... hate me for being a meany poo poo head if you want.

No saint here. But feel free to toss some more passive aggressive behavior my way.

Greg Hardy lived and learned?

Josh Gordon, Justin Blackmon, Josh Gordon, Ricky Williams?

Do these guys really ever learn anything?

Maybe this kid isn't them. I'm not saying he will be. I'm just voicing my opinion. Something you are free to disagree with.

If it's me, he doesn't get his second chance with me.

And as per Kiffin, what this thread is really about. You guys can stroke him up as a good coach or whatever. But I saw what he did to USC and Tenn. I wouldn't want him anywhere near a leadership role with my students.

But once again. Just MY opinion. Feel free to have your own, without any discord from me.

:whistling:
You're comparing a kid who had one run in with the law (all be it entirely stupid) with guys who have had numerous run ins and a history of issues with their behavior?  Cool....you really seem to know what you're talking about.

I hope he has 2 solid years at FAU, stays out of trouble, and comes back to Jax (or who knows, the pros) and does well in life.  It will prove narrow minded people like you that people can screw up and its not the end of their life.

No one hates you for what you're saying, just disagreeing.

Humans make mistakes. It's not anyone's job to cast them aside. That is where the real trouble starts. You throw out Hardy, Blackmon, Gordon etc. Those are outliers to the norm. They were given, 2, 3, even 4 shots and blew it. Should they continue being picked up and played on an NFL team? Probably not, but the worst thing you can do with guys like that is dismiss them.

Even Kiffin, he went back and paid his dues, and given a shot. No one is perfect, far from it. That is us, that is humans.

No I'm referencing situations where guys got multiple chances.

Johnny Football?

Is that better?

Narrow minded? HAHAHAHA. OK.

Just because I'm NOT OK with violence (especially against women) does not make me narrow minded.

Sorry I hurt ya'lls feelings talking about this kid you don't actually know. Or the coach, you don't actually know.
Quote:No one hates you. We admire a Saint in our midst. A Mr. perfect if you will. No wrong doings in their lives. Just perfection. We look up to you. A college or NFL team should hire you as an example of a perfect person. Lead and guide them.
Oooh... you're so cool.

Retreading the same tired remarks I already shot down. No one claimed to be perfect, feel free to quote where I said anything where I put myself on a pedestal.

I love when people get so hot over my opinion.

How else can I affect your life today?

I can almost envision the steam coming out of your ears lol

I hope your kids grow up to be punks that hit women in bars. And you can coddle them and tell them it is OK and it isn't their fault.

And hopefully you get the full effect.

Personally I hope the kid does have a turn around. I'd actually hate to hear about him getting in trouble again. But I'd love to see Kiffin fail he's a turd of the highest degree.
