Quote:My only thing with it all is - why are we emulating Seattle so much? I'd rather go from Caldwell's roots and emulate the Colts way. What the hell has Seattle ever won that we should be copying them to a tee?

Reasons for using the Seattle method: Depth, depth, and more depth.

Indianapolis won it all, however, there were plenty of holes Peyton Manning's brilliant play covered up.
Watching Russel Wilsons game cut ups on youtube from college, I have to ask.. how the hell was the kid not ranked as a first round prospect? HOW?

You have get Payton Manning to do that, which is pretty hard to find, then they got E.James and Wayne while having Harrison and Clark, outside of that they were not that great it all started with Manning you see what happen when he got hurt. Settle has been good building under Carrol but once they got Wilson they became legit, you can build a good team but you wont be great until u get a QB, Mannings are hard to find.

It was said before the draft if he was 3 inchs taller he would be a first round pick, so height bias

Because he wasn't successful in the NFL at the time.

So Andrew Luck played in the NFL before he was drafted? Pfft.
Quote:He does not fit Caldwells prototypical QB. Look who we have as QB BG big and tall big arm, Look who Caldwell went out and got and put ahead of scott, Stanzi Big and Tall big arm. Now look at manzell Not real small but smaller then you think and not a big arm and likes to run to much not a pocket passer. I could be wrong but im just looking at what Caldwell has filled this team with at QB it is his first year and he can always change his direction depending on how the OC wants to go.
Lol. You're as clueless as it gets.

Height/size.

Seattle, Kansas City both did it right.

You build the entire team top to bottom.  Load the roster with talent at all positions.  Not just pray for a single player at a single position.

Unless it culminates with a SB title, it wasn't done "completely right".
Meh, Fisch said he prefers a mobile QB, and Caldwell said he's given Fisch a major role in scouting the QBs. We'll see when it comes time for draft day, but I'll stick with my guns with the Bridgewater pick. Caldwell isn't dumb, he wont let a prospect like Teddy slide, unless, Houston takes him. Which would be absolutely horrible for this franchise.

Do you really envision Teddy falling past the 1st overall pick?? The culture changing wins in November blew our Teddy chances (without an overpaying trade up, that is)

I'm hoping for a miracle, but surely not expecting one.

Yes, easy to say after the fact that Wilson turned out to be a pretty good/franchise QB. If not for Seattle's luck in landing Wilson, they wouldn't be where they are right now.

I guess you're right.  Seattle was done completely right, being patient and smart with their franchise QB draft method.

On the other hand, the Chiefs unfortunately had fat boy choke their shot away from his deserving players.
Completely agree and there are a lot of people who are seeing this.

Jedd Fisch could mold him, Joeckel familiar with him, targets in Shorts and Co.

And both Jeff Saturday and John Clayton on ESPN believe we are a good destination for him for similar reasons, and Clayton brought up the fact that the lively college fanbase around here is great for Manziel also.

Luck is what you make by avoiding the stupid mistakes, and making the right choices.

I think Houston is going to take Clowney at #1. I could see it happening.
Quote:First of all, y'all know DiRocco's back story right? He was the Florida Gator beat man for the Florida Times Union for over a decade, and is a well known Tebow fanboy/apologist/homer. Of course the Tebow loving ESPN would give him of all people their new Jags team blogger job.

Second, we've been over how stark the similarities between the Tebow and now JFF cults are. It was a given he would be a massive Manziel homer too.

FYI, he also says if they don't get JFF at 3 they should take McCarron or Mettenberger in the 2nd, so he is also an SEC honk at it's finest.

I'm not really wanting to bash the guy, but he obviously isn't coming from an objective viewpoint.

What is an "objective viewpoint" when offering an opinion?

Are we to assume your views are "objective", that you have no biases or preferences?

And your argument against Manziel is that you think his fans are similar to Tebow fans?

That's the best you got?

I'm sure the cowboys and patriots made the right decision when they passed up on Romo and Brady until the 6th round and later.
