Going around the twittersphere right now.
Not surprised. The only reason he stayed at the Ville so long has recently declared for the draft.

Good fit
If true, this is a real killer to Louisville. I mean like really bad. I wonder if there are any Cardinal fans on these boards, I'd love to hear their opinions.

1)Teddy Bridgewater(one of the best, perhaps THE best QB the Cardinals has ever had), leaves school early for the draft.

2)Charlie Strong(who has done a truly admirable job resurrecting the Louisville program), leaves for Texas.

3)Louisville moves to the ACC next year WITHOUT a coach and WITHOUT a QB.

It's what we call 'the perfect storm'.  Heck, many people thought the Cardinals would have a rude awakening playing FSU, Clemson, VT, etc, next year WITH Teddy and Charlie. The future just got a lot more messy for Louisville if these rumors are true.

Parker is returning for his Sr. Year too. Probably not a smart move on his part.

Parker is a WR. He will be graded differently as a prospect. He will only improve his stock by return to school.

Not surprised by this news at all. Texas is offering him a bigger paycheck to coach a much bigger football program. It would be crazy for him not to take it.

Good news for Charlie.

What was Gainesville thinking when they snubbed Coach Strong? Now he's the head coach of the richest college football program on earth.

called this a few days ago. great hire for texas. bring some pride back to their defense and re-energize the recruiting. should be a season or two before the team makes a turn around.

Better get a good OC and not that bozo that was at Louisville this year.

Surprised that this is the best they can do.

I'm not. ESPN fed us all the big names. Saban, Fisher, Harbaugh, Tomlin. But those guys were not leaving their current positions. Alot of us said that weeks ago.

you always say this. but the reality is 1. not all coaches jump ship and 2. not all coaches can coach forever.

new elite coaches have to come from somewhere. younger guys need to be given a shot.
Strong seems like a decent recruiter and a good defensive coach. But I didn't see alot of great in-game decisions from him. I think he was very conservative and held back Bridgewater and the offense. Maybe this ends up being a good hire but would not be surprised if he ends up a Zook-style dud.

The offensive plays were called by Shawn Watson, so I'm not sure it's fair to critique Strong based on that. My feeling is that if he finds the right offensive staff, he will be very successful at Texas.
