Quote:4 wins adds so much morale....I know I'm proud.

Cheers to Teddy torching us twice a year....not only do we not get him...our conference rival does.

Okay and the Texans helped us get the number 3 pick in the draft, which more than likely will end up being a great player.  You can play this both ways.

Grow a pair dude.  Live with it.
Quote:But those 4 wins totally changed the outlook of the season.....so glad we get to miss out on a great qb that could fix the position for the next ten years.....

It wasn't even four wins, we lose either one of our games to Houston and we're on the clock right now.
Quote:Makes me sad he won't be in a Jags uniform.

You don't know that. There is still a chance the Texans will pick somebody else.
Quote:Well, in 2011 we went 5-11.

Were we any less demoralized?  The next year, we went 2-14.  What about then?

Who do you think wound up more demoralized?

Indy, who picked first overall in 1998 and wound up with Peyton Manning, or SD, who picked second overall, didn't have access to Manning when they drafted, and chose Ryan Leaf?

I would hope our pick doesn't turn out like Ryan Leaf.   Lol.

Consider the case of a free agent.   We offer him a contract and he sees:

A.  A team that is 0-16, players re-thinking why they came here in the first place, and everyone outside the organization saying the Jaguars are clueless.

or

B.  A team that went 0-8 but then went 4-4 in the second half.  A team that has its own free agents saying they love the coaching staff and want to stay.   A team that has the national pundits and everyone else saying the arrow is definitely pointing up, and that we have the right GM and coaching staff in place for sustained success.

Which situation would make you want to sign a contract?

I was hoping that we wouldn't sweep them.....that one win killed us as far as getting Teddy is concerned.
I don't get it, Teddy has the upside to be like Aaron Rodgers. He's not huge and he's not a track star but he's got adequate size and is a good athlete, with a quick release, great accuracy, touch and anticipation, not to mention pocket presence and instincts. Teddy has the potential to light up defenses. Just cuz he doesn't look like Thor doesn't mean a darn thing.

If that happens then another team would leap frog us and get Teddy

St. Louis has sure fell aaasss backwards into a great trading position again.

No kidding.  If they play their cards right, they'll be dominant in the next two years or so.

Why? They still don't have a QB and are the 4th best team in their own division.

Bradford will be back this year. They've had other key players injured......and they're in the same division as Arizona who finished red hot, San Francisco and Seattle

If they hit on all their stockpiled draft picks (assuming they trade down this year), they will be a force.  Even Bradford could lead this team places.  Obviously, it isn't a guarantee, but if we're comparing the draft to baseball, they have a hell of a lot of at-bats to take some shots to put an offense with their stifling defense.

While they may have "fallen into a great pick", you also have to give their GM credit for making the deal to net those draft picks that enabled the potential for this to happen in the first place.

Without making this deal, St Louis doesn't have pick 2 in the 2014 draft.

U glad?

Quote:If the tinhorns take him, I hope he has a miserable career and fizzles out of the league in 4 years. If we get him, I hope he is the next Brady.

We all hope that. Unfortunately what he hope for, and what will probably happen are likely 2 different things.

I do not think the Jaguars are going to be able to get Bridgewater. He'll go 1 to the Texans, or 1 with whatever team trades the Texans a boatload of picks for the rights to draft him.

Good points.

Quote:We still ended up with the worst point differential in team history.  That's pretty demoralizing right there.  One guy may be just as good as the other.  Or he may not be.  And if the first guy turns out great, and the Texans get him, then that means we face him twice a year for the next so many years.

Yep, not sure why this gets ignored.

Absolutely but who would have thunk that that pick would be the #2........and with possibly 3 franchise quarterbacks and a once in a decade monster DE as barter......and with lots of trading partners just below you......they're gonna be rich......wish we didn't need a QB or DE

The moral of that story is you should always be looking to be proactive. 2 years ago, the St Louis GM was, and it wound up paying off.
I sure do hope we can find a way to get this kid on our football team. He's a franchise changer.

But he's no elite prospect.  Like Aaron, those QBs simply shouldn't be drafted top five.

Later?  Sure.

LOL

He's certainly better at XBOX than Luck.
