I have a few shocker idea's on who I think they might be after and who might also have reciprocal interest, but I am opening it up to you guys first....
Any ideas?
P.S.
Mod's could you please correct it to "TEXAS Longhorn's" thanks.
and no, Gus Bradley is not one who i think they are interested in, or vice versa.
Watch ESPN for about 5 seconds and you have your answer.

Gruden?
I thought this would get more interest, but oh well...
I'll give you the guys that I am thinking Texas is looking at.
I predict that one of these absolutely will wind up being Texas' head coach.
1. Jimbo Fisher
2. Gus Malzahn
3. Chip Kelly
The Texas' AD has said that he wants a HC in place by January 15.
That timetable could indicate that he's waiting for Kelly to lose in the NFL playoffs, or could mean that he's waiting for the Jan 6 National Title game to finish before they get their man.

Someone would order a hit on Kelly if he takes the Texas job.
I thought you had "shocker" ideas? I've heard talking heads mention every one of these guys or I've read them on a website. I was looking to be shocked and I came away...meh. You can do better.
Jimbo is not going to Texas.
I think Art Briles will take the job. ESPN reported this morning that if he was offered the job, he would accept it.

Why and who are you referring to?

It has nothing to do with that.
I do think that Kelly ends up back in college in the relatively near future. However I don't see it being the Texas Longhorns. Another high profile college job will open up. Art Briles would be crazy not to take the job if it was offered. That is as prime of a HC job as you'll find at the college ranks all thing$ con$idered. Baylor...or Texas. Tough choice.

He's wanting to get a coach by then because National Signing Day is a month away and Texas currently doesn't have a coach and this is recruiting season. Nothing to do with the NFL playoffs or BCS Championship.

The recruiting "dead period" ends on Jan 15. They need a coach in place by that date so they can hit the road.

Well if Texas is that level of a job (and I agree with you, that it is) and you also opine that Kelly won't be long for the NFL, then why wouldn't Kelly want this job, rather than waiting for a lesser college gig??

Right, Understood, but they could have a coach already secured, if the above in itself was to be taken at face value. There has to be a specific reason why to this point that one has not been hired yet, and I think it COULD be because they have their eye on a coach that is still coaching in their respective seasons. (both college and pro)

Thats like an NFL team choosing Wade Phillips when Bill Belichick is possible available.
People who said Art Briles and Charlie STrong are right.
I'm disappointed in Texas though. If they would have moved faster and more directly, with their money, they could have very well gotten a Saban, Malzhan, Fisher, etc. They sat around for so long, letting the rumors fester, that all of those coaches teams have resigned them to bigger, longer contracts.
Whatever the case, I hope they get a very good coach. College football is better when Texas Longhorns are good.

I wouldn't be happy as a Texas Longhorn fan with that level of hire considering that stature of program

I would be. He's made Baylor relevant. Freaking Baylor.
Just think of what he could do at Texas with their resources and recruiting base.

It's funny to watch you blather on this board about college football because you are clearly clueless when it comes to the subject. You created this thread thinking you were dropping some bombshell about your "top 3 candidates". You think they set 1-15 as a date because they're waiting for Chip Kelly to get knocked out of the playoffs. And now you're ripping on Art Briles, who if you talk to most Texas fans would be their first choice after Saban. Stick to what you know best...whatever that may be.
