Did he really turn down the senior bowl invite? I know the senior bowl is generally for NFL coaches to find diamonds in the rough type of prospects (Alfred Morris), but sometimes it can really help your draft stock. For example, E.J Manuel was Senior Bowl MVP and later first round pick.


Unless he is a for sure top 5-10 prospecs like Barr or Walkins, participating in the senior bowl would never hurt his stock, only help.

Can we please stop comparing every non first or second round QB to Tom Brady (a modern day sport's Cinderella story) or Russell Wilson? And just FYI, it took the NFL 15 years after Brady to find Wilson, meaning that there won't be another diamond in the rough QB for another 10-15 years.

Apparently Gil Brandt was misinformed when he says he declined his invite, and he is still determining whether he will or not. I bet he will now that he failed hard in the bowl.

Career backup QB. Similar to a lot of the fan favorites on this board during last years offseason.

His ceiling is Chad Henne.  That's the absolute best I could ever see him being and even then that's a long shot.  He's a UDFA in my opinion.  Fortunately for him my opinion doesn't matter.

The horrible part is Henne was actually drafted in the second round.

Like previously said, Alabama has never been known for QB's. They're all about defense, RB's, and offensive line. AJ McCarron broke records because how often does a player stay at a college for four full years like he has?

His ceiling is Andy Dalton. Both QBs would be (are) good on a loaded team, but they aren't going to elevate them to a championship. On a much weaker team, they'd get exposed far more often.

I wouldn't surprised if he ends up the Matt Barkley of this draft

That's McCarron in college. Not McCarron in the NFL. Dalton was a better college QB with far, far less talent around him.

It will be tough for him to fall because I don't think many people will have him going in first couple rounds as draft day gets closer.

I don't disagree with you, that's why I said Dalton is his ceiling. He's a game manager who could put up decent numbers on a very talented team like what Dalton currently doing, otherwise he'll be a middling starter to above average backup.

His ceiling is his predecessor, Greg McElroy. Career clipboard holder.

I don't even like Dalton, but he is far better than McCarron. Dalton is at least QB purgatory, AJ is backup material at best.
