We can arguably say Carr has the strongest arm, Manziel is the most mobile, Bortles has the best accuracy and Teddy is all of the above. Considering Teddy is off the board who is the best at EVERYTHING not named Teddy?

 

Who has speed?

Who has leadership?

Who has the best arm?

Who has the best mechanics?

Who can read a defense?

 

Personally I keep going back to David Fales. Who do you think it is?

You think David Fales is the most balanced QB after Bridge???

 

I think Fales is a fringe prospect at best. Cap gun arm. Delivery/ mechanics need work. Just average size.

6 foot 3 220 is an issue? What are you looking for?

I don't get what you mean by balanced. Franchise QBs traditionally have something about their game that is an undeniable strength.

 

Peyton Manning has fantastic intelligence and game-directing skills.

Tom Brady has a knack for winning in the fourth.

Drew Brees has ridiculous accuracy and intangibles.

 

There are only three QBs in this draft that I personally consider to have some sort of fantastic trait about them:

Teddy's is his fantastic pre-snap reads and accuracy.

Manziel's is his preternatural sixth sense and ability to evade behind the LOS, in addition to his "give 100% every down" mentality.

Carr's is his phenomenal arm strength and out of sight leadership skills. (Although he needs to do better against pressure for me to even consider drafting him)

Sure, but a guy like Teddy has almost everything you look for in a QB. He can be mobile when he needs to be, knows how to read a defense, a leader and just all of the above. Where a guy like Carr you can say his undeniable strength is his deep ball but is he the best with his mechanics? No.

 

Basically, who is the whole package.

Ok I see what you're asking. But you're assuming that Teddy has the whole package.

 

Now listen, I love Teddy, I think he's going to be an excellent QB in the league for a long time. But his arm strength isn't "elite" I'd put it about 8 out of 10. His mobility is good when needed, but once again not in that elite range.

 

The only thing "elite" about Teddy is his understanding of the game, everything else about him ranges from above average to very good.

It's probably a tie between him and Bortles for me. But I see a lot of value being able to grab a guy like Fales in the 3rd and focus on other needs in the first two rounds.

Fales has a terrible name, his arm strength is questionable, he's not a tremendous athlete, his hair is suspect, and I'm sure his girl is not as stunning as Bortles'

I think Bortles is much closer to what you are asking for than Fales.

But the MOST important thing for a elite QB is that understanding of the game and pre-snap ability. QB's like Brees had questions about mobility and size in the draft; Brady with mobility and arm strength; and Peyton with mobility. 

 

However, if you can understand the game and take exactly what the defense is giving you every time and have above average accuracy, mobility, arm strength you can be an elite QB.

 

Also of any of the possible "elite skills" being able to quickly diagnose a play and make the correct audible/read is one that will never change with injury or age. It will also only get even better with more experience.

That's true, but (just playing devils advocate here) you can't teach Carr's arm strength or Manziel's playmaking ability and pocket presence.

Exactly. QBs that make great reads and set their offense up for success against what they see can play at an elite level much longer than their "athletic" counterparts

Fales is Teddy with a weaker arm.  His arm isn't as weak as many like to pretend.  I look at him as a 3rd, maybe 4th rounder.

I'm going to guess OP means who after Teddy is the best blend of franchise potential with low bust risk. That answer would easily be Bortles. While Carr and Manziel have higher absolute ceilings they have a much higher bust potential too.
