Quote:It's crazy that is even a discussion, to be honest. No players from this area ever go Pro. It is extremely rare for anyone to even go Division 1.
Well he went Division 1 and dude is about to go pro. It's all a matter of what team now.....

I hope its ours. I think he could be nice addition and he could probably compete with Mercedes for the starting job in camp.
Yup, and the whole area has been following him lol.

I'm not sure if he will ever be a starter in the NFL, but he has incredible work ethic and drive which is what you want to see out of a late round pick.

I think he could end up being the best TE in Jaguars history. Although that is not saying very much.

Alot of great TEs have come from late rounds. Although he isn't going to be a dominant blocker, I think his route running and catching will seperate him from other TEs we have had. He kind of reminds me of a younger Jason Witten.

....obv, he is not as big, but I think has the potential to be a similar threat in the passing game.

Are you a Big Ten guy? Seems like you have a lot of opinions on Big Ten players.

Nope not at all. I am just really liking college football the past few years. Mainly because of following the NFL draft, but also because the games usually mean more in college. Almost every week is a playoff game.

I am originally from LA and a UCLA fan, however, we moved to FL right before my junior year of HS and I have been down here since. (10+ years)

So now I am a U fan as well and I will occasionally root for the Gators as long as they aren't playing the U or UCLA Smile

Right on.

I'm surprised you haven't given me more grief for my take on Gardner in the pre-season.

Quote:Right on.

Lol. I said what I felt on Gardner, but it's not like I am always right.....

No need to rub it in, because if he had played how you expected, then we might be talking about him as our franchise QB.

P.S. - I think the only time I have ever rubbed it in on this board was about Jimmy Clausen.

It(unique because the Single Wing does not have a quarterback).

.

Not a traditional Quarterback. The QB lines up behind the tackle usually.

I've grown accustomed to this forum and it's "I told you so" mentality. I think it is mostly fueled by one poster, but that poster has turned me into a "I told you so" poster myself. It's good to see people that realize there are variables in every situation.

I'd say a lot of people have had their fair share of comments that were wrong. I know I have. I have no problem admitting it when I am wrong. Hell, I could be wrong about Mallet. He might be straight trash. I have never understood why people on this board have the I told you so mentality.

They are running backs who drop to a 3-point stance presnap. They are much, much more RBs that throw sometimes than QBs that run. Their "QB" running back is used as a lead blocker on a lot of plays.

Sorry for derailing the thread, but I just wanted to show you this offense. Menominee one of the most successful Michigan HS football team of the past decade (relative to their division) even though they often have less skilled players. This is because how well they execute the Single-Wing offense. Every pee-wee/Middle School team in their town run the Single-Wing, so by the time the players on in HS it is 2nd nature. Here are scoring plays from the Pederson's State Championship team.

It is very fun to watch.

Heck of a mock-draft OP. I like it, actually all of it. I'm probably one of the few who wouldn't mind Boyd as our guy here in Jacksonville. Very good QB.

IMO though, Manziel doesn't get past Browns at #4. Highest he goes is #1 if his home-state 'Texans' suddenly fall in love with him, but lowest is #4 with the Browns.

My HS lost to Menominee in the 06 state championship...it's not fun to watch when your team is on the other side of it lol.

Then you played against Pederson.

What's this obsession with making Steen into a center when he's never played the position before?

Greecemonkey, While your drafts might be unpopular I do enjoy them...here are my options as of today

Im hoping we go after Orakpo and Alex Mack in FA... I think Orakpo would make a great LEO and Mack would be a huge upgrade in the middle to replace Meester.. I don't see either guy not being franchised though...Just wishing.

@ The Freak

I really like all three of your mocks, with my favorite being #3. Only things I would change is taking Manziel instead of Bortles for option 2, and Boyd instead Mettenberger for option 3. I also wouldn't take a second QB in round six.

Very nice. I can't wait to do my next soon. I will probably update as I am almost 100% sure we go QB with our first pick. At first I didn't see any QB worth going in top 10 other than Bridgewater, but after what Manziel did yesterday, he may go there and maybe even top 3.

I still think 11-15 is a good place for Manziel to go just because I don't think teams will use a top 10 pick on a smaller QB prospect no matter how "electrifying" he is. I know people will point to Brees or Wilson, but I don't think a small QB both height and weight wise has ever been taken in top 10 let alone the first round....

We will see though, because maybe Manziel can impress a team enough to take him there and possibly top 5.
My head will explode if we draft another Tackle in the 1st.

Greece,

I personally don't see Boyd being an NFL QB. I don't even think he will get drafted. He has never impressed me with his arm, he is just a guy who fit for Clemson. Mettenberger is intriguing to me, I think he has the talent to be a big time QB but he isn't my favorite in this class...I will say that I hope we draft a 2nd QB no matter what, I would like to see what Logan Thomas can do. After doing these mocks I realized I had too many Florida and FSU players...it wasn't done on purpose, I did a consensus on other Mocks, who was going where and what we need. There are guys I really like this year, Easley, Jernigan, Shazier, Trent Murphy...Wish we could get all 4 somehow, I like the upside to all these guys. Then there are guys that worry me but could really change the game for us, Hyde, Purifoy, Mack, Barr, Manziel, Bortles, Wilder.

I think guys like Barr and Mack fit really well into this system that Gus has in place. Are we willing to wait on Barr? Is Mack legit? Can Hyde be a quality RB?

If MJD doesn't come back, we are gonna have to draft a guy early. I really hope this isn't the case, I like Lache but I prefer the guys in next years class. Guys like Todd Gurley, Duke Johnson, Mike davis, etc...
