Houston isn't dumb enough to take Clowney, so there will be an interesting scenario at #2. St. Louis is clearly going to trade out of that slot.
How do you feel about a clowney Dom Easley combo
Starting to look like we will have to trade with St.Louis for Clowney or Teddy. Could work, Rams could take a few of our picks, move to four, then trade back again. Could honestly rack up on picks
We need to much help to be trading away picks, in fact we should be stocking piling them ourselves if there isn't someone the team needs at 3 that fits I full support trade down. Get into the middle of the first and get someone like Trent Murphy from Stanford guy has a nose for the QB and is almost built for LEO.
I'd rather throw money at greg hardy rather than get another project at round 2. Target a WR or OG.

I'm for it.
TBH if we dont go QB in the first round drafting Clowney then Easley back to back would be perfect. You can never have enough pressure, interior and on the outside.
Id rather draft a QB in the 3rd than in the 2nd. I really dont think either has a big chance of panning out, so Id rather take a shot with the 3rd instead.
I would love a Clowney/Easley combo, but I too would rather buy one of our DEs than draft Clowney at 3. We need a QB with that #1 pick. I think Easley can be just as good as Clowney in the NFL.
Other LEO's could be Jackson Jeffcoat or Christian Jones, but I wouldn't pick them until our 3rd or 4th round. I would love Van Noy at #39, but he's more of an OLB than LEO. I don't think LEO fits all that well at 39 in this draft... Maybe things will change in the coming months, but as of now it would be better to wait until the 3rd.

This is the same diarrhea of the mouth everyone was spouting who didn't expect them to take Mario Williams, either.
Last year at this time we were talking about Demontre Moore from Tamu...Some guys could slide with bad workouts, if the right guy slides we could be in for a big payday....im hoping Khalil Mack is that guy..right now there is a lot of deserved hype around him...I would love to see him slide to us at 39 but it aint happening IMO....
a guy that would really be good here is Ryan Shazier from OSU...I don't see him dropping out of the first but weirder things have happened. Murphy should be gone as well, Van Noy doesn't seem like the right fit imo, Stephon Tuitt, Michael Sam, Adrain Hubbard. Jackson Jeffcoat in the 3rd, not before please....
Yes to Clowney/Easley combo please with the hopes of Timmy Jernigan in the 5th.. id prefer a Clowney/Shazier/Easley combo....then draft Jimmy G, Mettenberger, Logan Thomas, Fales, McCarron....
Shazier as a rush linebacker maybe, but not LEO.
Either we get a good pass rusher in the first (Clowney or Barr) or get out franchise QB. Nice position to be in considering we have a need for all 3 of those positions.
As regards to picking in the 2nd what about Steohen Tuitt if he declares?

Mario's competition was a running back and Vince Young. Totally similar scenarios and identical front offices from 2006, basically.

ive only seen shazier play twice and i was real impressed. he was always around the ball, and a tackling machine. to me it looked like he was a real explosive player. anyone have some more insight on him that watched more ohio state games?
That's pretty much him in a nutshell. Very good player. Only 220 pounds or so, so I think he's limited to weakside linebacker in the NFL.
Quote:If the first two are stupid enough to pass on Clowney... wow
The Texans would be stupid to pass on Bridgewater. The Rams would be smart if they pick Matthews. And the Jaguars would not pick Clowney just because he is available.
You do realize there are other pass rushers who actually give 100 percent effort every day, don't you?

Forget it. If we ever trade up, it will be in the second round, where we are the last 4-12 team with a pick, and only if a team is willing to trade down for only a fourth round pick.

Is Matthews even the best LT prospect?
