Full Version: Did the Dolphins use Dion Jordan correctly?

Disclaimer: I'm not saying he's a bust.

Having only had 2 sacks and 26 tackles on the season makes me wonder if Gus Bradley could have gotten more out of him. I didn't really get to watch him play this year so can anyone that did fill me in on his play.

EDIT: My phone made a double post.  Sorry.

I'm curious about this too. I didn't watch him at all.

I loved him pre-draft and thought/still think he will be good.
I don't think he was a starter. He's being used only as a pass rushing specialist on 3rd downs and to spell Cameron Wake.....

....which I think is a big waste.
Philbin is trash so I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't being used correctly.

^this.
The easiest way to answer this question is this:

Just imagine the Jags had drafted him, and he put up those stats. The naysayers would be coming out of the woodwork to trash the pick.

I'm not saying that they're right to do so. I'm just saying that they would. It's as predictable as the sun rising.

So if you want the opinion of "those people" then you now have it.

He'd have 15 sacks at Andre Branch's position here.

He was playing behind Cameron Wake. I didn't believe in the hype of Jordan anyways. Anthony Barr is a much better prospect.
If I'm trading up into the top five for a guy, he better not be playing behind anyone.

He was mis drafted, the fins need help on the OLine not the DLine. Yes he was used sparingly in 3rd down situations and really didn't do much when he was in.

How is Barr much better? They look like the same person. Matter of fact Jordan is better in coverage; all Barr does is stand up and rush from the edge. That's why I've soured on drafting him. He's one dimensional.
Jordan had shoulder surgery and limited him early. When he was given the opportunity, they found that he had trouble in the run game. They transitioned him to be a 3rd down specialist for this reason, which limited his snaps. In today's Ft Lauderdale Sun Sentinel newspaper, they talked of the situation and hope a full healthy off season program will assist in his development to have a bigger role next season.

Good point about the shoulder surgery.  The same thing occurred with Jets 1st Round CB Dee Milliner.  Both players didn't have the luxury of practicing in the off-season and missed some time in training camp.    In the case of Jordan,  he missed many OTA's altogether because Oregon didn't have their graduation as early as most other schools.  Both rookies were clearly setback..  Next season should be a much better indication of what to expect from an overall career standpoint for both Dion Jordan and Dee Milliner.

I actually disagree with this strongly. Barr is a good prospect but he has become pretty predictable. Until he learns to transfer his speed into power, or learns to be more versatile in coverage or run support, Dion is a significantly superior prospect.
