Did Peyton do that (with much more talent around him)?
The answer would be no.
Who knows what the future holds, but I'll take my chances.
If your GM keeps making bonehead decisions like the Richardson deal, your chances aren't that good. I like Luck more than most around here, but he can't do it alone.

If, by them, you mean the player personnel department, it's possible that they took a passive aggressive approach to tanking by not bringing in better players, especially a better QB, to give themselves a better chance to win. But you will never convince me that a professional football player will deliberately not play to the best of his abilities in order to help his team get a higher draft position.

not sure what you are laughing about - they clearly were on their way out. Polian was ready to retire and Caldwell was not a good head coach.
We'll see if you keep laughing if your GM leeps treating 1st round picks like dollar bills.

Mark Sanchez took the jets to to Afc championships in his first 2 years.... just sayin... Luck has many holes in his game. Not saying he can't get better, but I'm also not in fear of him or your franchise at the moment.

You obviously forgot a few things about Peyton Manning's first two seasons.
He did not play in the NFL's worst division. Do you remember how good the Jets, Bills, Patriots, and Dolphins were in 1998 and 1999? Much better than the AFC South is now, obviously, because they all went to the playoffs in the late 1990s. (The Jets were AFC Championship Game losers and we all know what happened to the Dolphins.) Andrew Luck, on the other hoof, is in the NFL's worst division - a division that did not exist before 2002. So their records can't be compared because the schedule format and division alignment changed before Luck was drafted.
Another note: Stanford's OC followed him to Indianapolis. To my knowledge, Tennessee's OC did not follow Peyton Manning there. I am sure that makes a difference too.

We're more than a year away, although sometimes teams get hot and catch breaks. Witness the '96 Jags.
That said, I wouldn't bet on it but will as always, remain hopeful!

'99 Titans, 2001 Patriots, 2006 Steelers, 2011 Seahawks, etc

Just because Manning is winning games for Denver now doesn't mean you're obligated to make excuses for him.
I think his legacy will stand up just fine regardless of his first two years. Truth is, Luck has done more with less his first two years. It's the rest of the career where Luck will have a hard time keeping up with Peyton.

Great thread. The story on ESPN was about the Jags and Falcons being favorites to be chosen to coach the Senior Bowl, not play in the Super Bowl. Jesus.
At least we got another slew of gems from JaguarsWoman, though.

Thank you for clearing that up.
This whole thread should go in some message board time capsule.

LOL You can always count on me to give you some.
How are the Senior Bowl coaches determined?

The two worst teams with no new coaching staff. This will explain it better.

Don't get a big head just for winning a couple of meaningless games. The Colts will rule this division for years to come... Again.
I seriously doubt that the Colts will dominate our division as per the Payton era...
Bradley and Caldwell will ensure it and by saying "Ensure It" I mean that we'll field a Much Better Team...
NH3...

At first Manning wasn't supposed to be out the entire season (Peyton had a 4th surgery at the start of the regular season, and the recovery time was unknown, as well as the nerve damage), so Polian paid Kerry Collins $4,000,000.00 to play QB until Manning could return. The Colts offensive line nearly got Collins killed. What QB was availabe after that ... that had the capability to absorb a beating, and win?
I guess Vince Young? (I can't recall for certain) ... Several of players were upset, and vocal that Collins was brought in to start rather than have Painter be the starting QB (including Reggie Wayne) in the system he had been in for a couple seasons. Orlovsky should have started over Painter, and once the Colts benched Painter, the Colts were more competetive with Dan Orlovsky at QB.
I know a lot of people that are not Colts fans see things differently, but the Colts did try to hold down the fort until Manning could come back. There was rumors that Manning tried to play in goal line situations late in the season. I am unsure if he did lobby to play, but the writing was already on the wall by then, and Orlovsky gave the Colts the best chance to win at that point. Not to mention risking Mannings possible chances of ever playing again.

Have you ever seen a Division Champion Banner in real life, or just pictures of Division Champion Banners?

Jags were AFC Central Divison Champs a couple of times. Just saying. We've been bad for the past decade or so, but let's not pretend here

Get out of here.

The show was called "After further review" and it just aired again (ESPN). They said, Jags vs falcons SB49. Comment was made about Gus and how he will turn this team around.
