Quote:I quoted a reply that was putting down mccarron and bigging up Manziel.
So yeah what I did was disprove a lot of the things he said to say Mccarron wasn't good enough and disproved a lot of the things where he said Manziel was good?
I could of quoted what he said originally and said 'Oh so all you did there was spend 3 paragraphs bigging up Johnny Manziel'...but I didn't....because it would of been a pointless reply and a complete waste of my time...
But yeah well done
I see. I didn't read his post because TLDR. I was confused why you were talking so much about Manziel when what you quoted didn't mention him.
So yeah...just disregard.

No worries, I saw your post literally like 5 seconds after I got told I had to work tomorrow so I think I went OTT..so disregard that!
Quote:Where are these great Alabama receivers? The only one I've seen as as good in the last few years Is Julio Jones
I can tell you watch a lot of NFL, but no much college, and that's okay, its not everybody's cup of tea.
And I can tell that because if you were, you'd have already known that Saban, most Alabama fans, and most pundits believed at the beginning of this season that WR was THE deepest position on the entire Alabama roster, with zero WRs having graduated from the receiving corp from last season's championship winning team.
I'd also encourage you though to be more wary of tearing too many potential Jaguars QBs down on these boards. I've certainly vocalized my doubts about other guys like Teddy, but make no doubt about it, he's a heck of a prospect, and i'd be glad to have him on our team next year. But the way you speak down about Johnny, I dunno, I wonder if you'll even watch any of our games next year if we draft that "scrawny Tebow-clone'.
Re-read my post brother. I didn't say Mccarron sucked, and that's why if you notice, the OP didn't respond negatively. I just remarked that Mccarron has some major question-marks, certainly no less than the ones you pointed out about Johny. I'd still take AJ in the 3rd or 4th round. But no reason to call any of our potential franchise qbs worthless or just 'gimmics'. But suit yourself. Just remember, we're all cheering for the same team here.
Quote:I'd say be jus don't go QB in the 1st,
2008 - Ryan Clady
2009 - Brian Orakpo
2010 - Earl Thomas
2011 - J.J. Watt
2012 - Blackmon
2013 - Joeckel
I agree about QB in the first. If we do it has to be THE right guy. And IMO, ONLY be Manziel or Teddy. Anyone else we can pick up later and be just as well-off.
And heck of a draft list there too friend. Don't know if I want to be happy to see how close our team could be to greatness with the right draft-picks, or cry that we've picked so bad over the last few years.

Believe me whoever we draft I will support, I have no doubt our scouting department and Dave Caldwell no more about football than I do, I'm just voicing my personal opinion and I honestly can't see us drafting him.
Sorry if you wasn't meaning to say mccarron sucked that's how I read it but I guess I misinterpreted it, my bad.
But like I say whoever we pick I give full support to, infact if we draft someone I don't personally rate I hope and pray that I'm wrong, because all I want is the jags in the play offs and winning like we all do.
The thing is with this forum, you have a group of people who all generally want the same thing (the jags winning) but people believe that will be achieved in different ways and by different players, just because we think differently about how we can succeed, don't think for second i want us to succeed any less than you, and vise versa
And for the record..I believe your opinion of other players such as Carr and bortles is the same as mine

Fully agreed friend. The question is always the same, but the answer is interminably different with every Jag fan you ask. And I am sorry if my response earlier grated you in anyway. I'm passionate for both the Jags as a team and Jacksonville as a city(evident by my sometimes windy posts), but certainly never intend to be arrogant or grating.

I think you're right.

Thanks! I do a lot of film watching and taking courses to become a scout one day, I more of a drafting the BPA (best player available) rather than a need kinna guy. But man with our QB WOES(and that's being nice) over the last several years it hard to pass on QBs with upside. N I agree I'm kinna on the fence about manziel, I'm more optimistic than doubtful on his play but the thing that draws me back onto the fence is his off the field issues, a QB has to be the most professional and well behaved player on the team. If he matures and gets his priorities straight then theres no doubt he has a TON of upside.

.
Same here man I may of bashed Manziel a bit to much but I never meant to come across arrogant of grating either

but yeah you're right the answer is always so so different.
I'm sure Caldwell has written off McCarron due to his tattoo. Can't blame him either
Can you imagine Poz and Barr on a D?
Might be special.
McCarron is one of the QB's I'm ok with. There's others I like better....Bortles or Mettenberger.(yeah I know he's hurt)
JFootball scares me for some reason....and its not his height.
Right now at this moment i would love to take Clowney with the 1st then trade up later in the 1st if Manziel is still available which is a possibility. But having said that things will change between now and may.

He looks good but I never saw any moments were he didn't have a clean pocket. I mean this guy literally had all day to throw.
AH...*slaps head*....and add Conner Shaw to my list. lot to like with him and he has a coach that certainly knows what it takes to play in the NFL.

Yeah. That seemed to help Danny Wuerfell.
Legit question: has Spurrier ever had a QB go on to be successful in the NFL?
Quote:Legit question: has Spurrier ever had a QB go on to be successful in the NFL?
Long term? No. Grossman has "success" in that he made it to a Super Bowl but that was in spite of him not because of him. The best his guys ended up were as career backups like Grossman and Shane Matthews. Wuerfell and Jesse Palmer flamed out pretty quickly.
And I don't think any of his SC quarterbacks have done anything of note. If I had to guess on Connor Shaw, he'll be in the Arena League in a year or two.
