Quote:I've explained it time and time again. I am not sure why it's so difficult for some to understand.

It's not that we don't understand the reasoning behind it. We just like messing with the Gators about it.
Quote:"You don't get these opportunities very often,'' Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley said in an official statement.

So they just conveniently forget that they bailed on Nebraska, Penn State, etc out of state back in the day.
He was probably referring more to Jerry's world.

Maybe?
I remember explaining......Again.....In a thread some time back the reason behind the scheduling and added this to it as well.

With the playoff system coming the way schools schedule will change. Scheduling bigger schools for OOC will make more sense. Paying smaller schools to come in will make less sense. A team can suffer one of those OOC losses to a big school and still be in good shape for the playoffs.

This is just starting to play out now.

Quote:well they may not have has as many butts in the seats but they sold the tix. Nearly 85k for GaSouthern late in the year. FSU had only 65k for Idaho. Maybe 20k isnt that big a deal but at lets say 30 bucks a ticket, that definitely changes the financial landscape. Especially when you have to pay 500k-800k just to get that team to come play you.

I know my school Vandy does home and homes with the likes of UMass because we can only afford to pay so many cupcakes. While schools like Florida rake in the cash for games like that.

I think you'll see more ticket declines next year. This actually started last year (noticeably) and has carried over to this year. Foley actually sent a letter out making changes to current ticket packages in response to ticket declines and a summer survey: http://touch.orlandosentinel.com/#section/-1/article/p2p-78057884/.
FSU's non-conference opponents this year were Nevada, Bethune-Cooman, Idaho and UF (tradition).

....... Take the clown suit off bro.

2010-2011 Oklahoma home and home. 2012 West Virginia until they canceled. 2014 Oklahoma state. You are the clown.

2015 is a tough year OOC...
Quote:I went to UCF and played there....otherwise I'm pretty darn neutral.

UF fans annoyed me when they were on top because of some of the dumb stuff they said and FSU fans say some pretty dumb things as well.

Don't lump us all together.

Every team has stupid, annoying fans.

So you used games from multiple seasons ago, a game that never actually happened and a game that is yet to take place, to defend a hilariously easy non-conference schedule for THIS SEASON? You have successfully pulled off the hat trick of poor excuses!

I think his point was FSU actually played a competitive OOC opponent outside of the state of Florida in recent years.
Neither FSU or Florida have to make apologies and defend their schedules. Year in and year out both play very difficult teams.

Next year FSU plays Oklahoma State, Notre Dame, and Florida OOC.

I love bringing up the fact of OOC outside of the state of Florida. As if traveling inside the SEC doesnt count to playing tough games on the road.

Lets forget the fact that Florida has had a strong strength of schedule for how many years now?

Thats a great schedule. Combine that with having Winston....it will be a fun year to watch FSU.

You can disrespect facts but they still remain true. FSU regularly schedules tough out of conference opponents, one season where the out of conference schedule is not as tough is no reason to act like they never play anyone OOC.

They typically play one tough out of conference game a year. If they didnt play that game and UF year in and year out, they could have been Ohio State this year.

Throw that in with Clemson too. Next year is our best home schedule in some time with Clemson, Notre Dame, and UF at home.

I don't think anyone normally plays more than one non-rivalry 'tough' out of conference opponent each year.
