But that is exactly the type of joke I am able to understand.

This is why we love you, JW.   Wink  Smile
People here do understand that Caldwell isn't putting any player on the IR without consulting the coach, right?  Who actually does it is irrelevant.  They're making personnel decisions in tandem.

When it was reported that Shorts suffered a groin injury, I figured they'd probably consider shutting him down depending on the severity because at this point in the season, an injury like that isn't going to heal up quickly enough to get him back on the field. He can't get any push, or make cuts if the injury is significant, and it would put him at risk for further injury by putting him out there.  I don't think they'll allow that to happen.  Gus said there's more concern about Cecil's injury which means it's not just some minor groin strain.  They're not seeing progress in his recovery right now.

To the tankers who think they're doing this to lose out, keep dreaming.  I watched the presser, and Gus indicated MJD was improving.  He talked about the other injuries, and how these guys are toughing it out to stay on the field as long as they don't hurt the team.  Apparently, Roy Miller has been playing with a significant shoulder injury which has been an ongoing problem.  Gus singled him out for being a "tough son of a gun" for dealing with this the way he has.

He also made it a point to say they expect more from Denard Robinson, understanding the importance of protecting the ball, and that this is going to be a very teachable moment for him.

Now, those guys in shorts are coaches. Yes, they do wear shorts.

Please, for your own good. Just stop making idiotic comments that are patently false.
Quote:Good.. if there is a question then do it.. Need him good and healthy for next season and the new guy tossing him the rock!

We can only hope. Laughing
Quote:I thought Caldwell was the one who would put him on IR.

How would Gus know anything about that?
LOL.  Don't you think there's maybe just a tiny chance the head coach and the gm talk about the players occasionally?
They should shut down shorts if he is injured.  It would be more of a benefit for him to be healthy next year vs making the injury worse at this point.  The biggest question is how severe is it and is there risk if he continues to play

But what if his injury - which I have no memory of him leaving the TNF game with - is not worse than initially thought, don't you think they would want to keep him on the roster for the Colts game?
Well I agree with the move and think it also should have been done last season after concussion #1.

After concussion #1?  Wasn't that pretty much in pre-season?

no, I'm talking about the concussion he sustained around week 11 or so, then he came back and suffered another concussion quickly in week 13 or so.

It's a sports hernia. Adrian Peterson played the final 6 games last year dealing with a similar issue. It sounds like they're going to reevaluate his progress on Wednesday, but Shorts sounded resigned to ending the season early in the press interviews today in the locker room.

Why would the coaches want to do that?

What if it's exactly as bad as they thought?

Or how about if it's 2.64327% worse than they thought?

Or if it's 1.65976% better?

Or what if he's faking?
