According to PFT, there was a quadruple stabbing after the Chargers-Broncos game last night.
Not singling out Broncos fans or Chargers fans with this post. But we, as football fans...as people...have to be better than this.
I read that too and felt the same way. Then, having nothing to do, I roamed over to PFT and was able to stumble across the commercial for headphones (with Colin Kaepernick) that the Seattle fans are all upset about.
It's worth finding and watching if you haven't seen it (go over to PFT and look in their Most Commented section on the right side of the home page, you'll find the article and the video is embedded in it).
First, it's a great commercial as it does what it's intended to do. It draws attention to the product.
But, look at the fans and their actions. Look at the revulsion, the hate, the derision they show toward a young man who is a remarkable American athlete. He should be revered to a degree by all football fans and it should be a pleasure to watch him play even if he is on the opposition. Sure, boo him on the field if you like but what's depicted in that ad is way beyond acceptable. I know it's only an ad and not exactly reflective of real life but life imitates art and vice versa.
Now look at the situation in Denver last night. It's not similar to the commercial but it is. Maybe a better writer than me could communicate what I feel but Bullseye is right- aren't we better than this? It's only football.

It is an alarming reoccurance at many football games, and the fact that it is not specific to one team or stadium indicates to me that is a growing problem with fans (and sadly to admit alchol).

What's this
we stuff? I'm fine, and I suspect you are too.
Stupid stuff in a parking lot at a football game? Shocking. Nah, never any drunks or loud-mouthed bores at games, they're just the great kind of fans we find to be cute.
This kind of stuff has been going on forever, although the coverage of it has gotten better. It's this kind of stupidity that keeps people in their living rooms with their big screen.

I suspect many who get involved in incidents of this nature often don't have these incidents outside of the context of a football game. Many would be considered habbitual or incorrigble, but I suspect some get involved in these incidents and it's out of character. With that in mind, under the right circumstances, almost anyone can get involved in a scrap of some sort at a game.
I'd like to think I was above that, but I'm sure many have also felt that way until things unfolded in front of them.
Perhaps it is a matter of better reporting, but it just saddens me to see this happening so often, not only at games but just as a whole.
Seems this is a case of road rage, not a fan of one team attacking another.
In before TMD declares this to be yet another sign of the total collapse of societal norms.
If only we tanked for Teddy

Well he would be right. Nobody was ever stabbed pre-1990's.

No matter what the reason is, I suspect alcohol had something to do with it. The NFL needs to limit beer sales to one per person before the third quarter.

Alcohol isn't the problem....they have been serving it at games for decades.....the problem is the degeneration of society. The alcohol hasn't changed, people have. More self centered, more disrespectful/ violent than ever.

Yes, people have been getting stabbed and killed at games for decades. What was I thinking???
You are such an apologist for the current times its pathetic.

But no according to Adam2012 and his kind, this stuff did happen all the time, but we just hear about it more now....
Thug culture, you pump a culture full of glorified gang like activities and simple things like cheering for a sports team can foster a gang like us vs them culture.

Hey, whatever fits your agenda.
You have read that this had to do with an auto crash incident, haven't you? You know, those thug car owners.
You and TMD have a response before the incident. Makes it so much easier that way.

Are you that ignorant of history, of what happened before you were born?
I would think it's hard to not know, but apparently not.
Stabbings are new now? Fans fighting during and after games is as old as the games themselves. The Brits were stabbing and slashing each other with broken bottles after soccer matches in the 70's and 80's plenty, BTW. Heck - the term "football hooligan" dates back to the 60's.
Many of our fellow humans have a quick tendency to violence. Put 60,000 of us together and there's bound to be a few heads butting between those that are so inclined.
could be worse:
