I used to attend a church that has sign language interpreters at two services each weekend. One signs worship songs for 25 minutes and another signs the sermon. Services are 1.5 hours long. So it made no sense to me that one man was signing the whole three hours.
As for standing only one yard away from the speakers, I have never seen anyone else do it.

This is very unfortunate Mandela's funeral has turned out to be a sideshow.
