This isn't a question of who do you think the best RB is, but which RB's do you think will offer great value as a mid to late round pick for the Jags, since we probably won't use the first two picks on a RB.
For me, I think there's a possibility for UCF's Storm Johnson to fall to the early 3rd round. If he does, Caldwell should absolutely jump on a 6'1" 210lbs+ specimen who is extremely athletic and has home run ability.
Another guy is FSU's Devonte Freeman, who may fall to the 3rd or perhaps 4th, due to his small stature. But even though he is short, his body resembles MJD's in terms of size of his lower body. He could be a steal, as he is extremely quick, a good pass catcher, and can also run with power.

I like Storm Johnson, but man does he fumble a lot.

I highly doubt that Wesley "Storm" Johnson is going to declare, unless UCF wins a BCS bowl. Devonte Freeman is a much more plausible selection for a mid round running back who has production. De'Anthony Thomas could be a good back if we want to move to a more up tempo style offense, but I am expecting that we will want to be a power running team, so DAT might be too small/fragile as a between the tackles runner.
If we are looking for a Marshawn Lynch type guy, we need to look at BC's Andre Williams or OSU's Carlos Hyde. These are guys with a lot of muscle that could sustain a full season of power running. I worry about the workload Williams has had to carry this year already, but he has the production to justify it. Hyde is a guy that might be more a product of stellar offensive line play, but he is a BIG guy at 6 foot, 240lbs. That's a lot of muscle to carry around at that height.

He good.
And the fumbling issue can be corrected with proper coaching. I wouldn't mind him if we bring MJD back for a year or two to learn from.

Fumbling is habitual. Some running backs just have a better grip than others. He was benched after his second fumble on Friday and that freshman UCF has is pretty darn good.

Yep. I think it usually seems to be one of the things hardest to correct.

Pretty sure I read a report saying he would declare.
The entire Caldwell/Bradley regime is based on speed which is what Pete Carroll built the Seahawks upon. That said, I see Devonte Freeman as a likely prospect a lot more than Storm Johnson.

Ah I see now. It wouldn't really hurt UCF too much as Stanback has shown more than enough to alleviate any significant drop RB depth. I don't think Storm is much higher than a 5th round pick. He is lightning fast though. He might clock faster than CJ2K.

Yeah, they will definitely be fine with Stanback.
I have Storm as a mid round guy but I had Andre Ellington is the same range last year. So who the heck knows where his value is. If he can fix his fumbling issue I don't see why Storm can't be a teams number 1 back.
I'm probably was off but the guy I keep going back to when comparing him is Demarco Murray.

As far as potential goes, I don't see why Storm wouldn't be in that Fred Taylor category. Dude has unbelievable feet quickness and burst at 6'1" 215. Remember, Fred had fumbling concerns coming out, too.
I'd take a look at Isaiah Crowell in the later rounds.

BINGO. Little bit smaller but the dude runs with power and was a big time recruit who just messed up. seems like he turned himself around. i would love to see in the 3rd/4th round crowell being picked up. i think he would be a big time steal that late.
Screw value. Lache Seastrunk FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!

If we're going that route 2 words.
Bishop Sankey.
Carlos Hyde, of course
Tre Mason, if he declares.
Since rb is an undervalued position, I've seen reports of these two falling to round 3, where I would be happy with either
The rb from Arizona. I've heard he was one of the rb prospects but still projected as a mid rounder. He can play
Freeman
Sankey
Carey
Johnson
All those boys can play. But watching Seastrunk highlights get me absolutely HYPED!
Depends on who declares and how they're offseasons go... So much with RBs depend on their medical checkups, weigh in, 40-yard-dash, long jump, etc.
