I think a lot of what Todman has done has put Denard in a back-up role and on Special Teams. Todman earned his way onto our final roster and produces every game spelling for MJD and I notice a definite change of pace when he is carrying. I wonder if Todman could be our feature back next year with Denard as a back-up and we part ways with MJD or use him as an experienced back-up if he gets no offers elsewhere but I think he will with his better performances as of late... not great but something to bait a trade as opposed to absolutely nothing before the trade deadline. D-Rob has to continue to polish up on some things though no doubt he is an effective athlete though.
Quote:I think he may not survive this year actually.
If someone gets hurt, I see him being cut in place for whatever Free Agent we pick up.
His entire goal is to make it through the year on the roster and then hope that next year the light turns on for him.
12 games into the season, if someone gets hurt, there's a good chance they will go on IR. And that would free up a roster space, so Denard would not get cut for that reason.
Personally, I think he makes it to training camp next year, and winds up getting cut in the last cut. I just don't think he has it.
Denard is our real 3rd string QB... it'a just a secret. Hush... Don't tell.....
Quote:Fans will have to be patient with this kid because he's clearly a talented athlete. They just need to find ways to use him, and when they do, he has to find ways to be effective. I suspect things will start to slow down for him next year, and when it does, he'll step up and show what he can do.
mike brown, russel allen, cecil shorts even justin blackmon could be big examples of the virtue of waiting.
Each player took time to show their talent (the other took a season and blackmon took around 10 games of pretty extensive playing time to start to show his talent)
denard is struggling with the fact that todman just seems to be better, his kick returns are very exciting and he seems to be better at hitting the gap, not particularly unexpected considering denard is also learning to hit the hole and to hold onto the ball.
I don't see him getting cut and i think forsett will be let go for any new addition to the rb core unless mjd walks though he will definitely have to compete. I think denard's physical athleticism will probably see him through training camp and into next season but no further unless he starts to get some production
