From Walterfootball, haha

Jacksonville's defense played well overall once again, but as is the case every week, the unit was betrayed by Bortles, who was horrendous as ever. I actually expected Bortles to throw two pick-sixes against one of the NFL's elite defenses, but he at least gave us one. It was Bortles' 11th pick-six in three years. I have Jacksonville taking Lamar Jackson in my 2018 NFL Mock Draft, which was updated this weekend.

Bortles failed to complete half of his passes, going 19-of-42 for 181 yards and two interceptions. He also lost a fumble to end the game. Bortles' first pick wasn't his fault because Allen Robinson bobbled the ball, but he was still atrocious. His mechanics were a mess, and his accuracy resembled that of a drunken dart-thrower at a bar. Bortles will not improve because he doesn't care about football as much as partying.

As of right now, I think Walterfootball's analysis of Bortles is spot on... he is more into partying and chasing tail than being a professional QB.  Who knows though...  maybe he has an epiphany in the off-season and recommits himself?

Since Bortles entered the league in 2014, he leads the league in pick 6's with 11.  Interestingly, Phillip Rivers is right behind him with 10 followed by Drew Brees with 7 over that same time frame.

The Rivers and Brees numbers are actually very surprising to me

Yeah a little, but the raw number doesn't tell you how each of those happened and if it's all or mostly the QB's fault.  I can tell you from watching all of Blake's games that he's earned the fact that he leads the league in that stat during his tenure in the league.

Not really.  All three of them have slow releases and wonky mechanics.  Bortles has the worst results of the three but yeah not too surprising.

Drew Brees is a 1st ballot HOF caliber QB.   But one thing that was noticeable yesterday when his team was beyond and being outplayed,   Brees made some relatively high risk throws.   Two that cost him when the outcome of the game wasn't decided.

Drew Brees and Philip Rivers are as mentally tough as any QBs in the NFL.   Even when they make mistakes,   they are willing to put their respective Offense on their backs.

Which, to me, shows that if Blake can re-dedicate himself to his throwing motion/accuracy, he can be successful. Brees and Rivers are both putting up HOF level numbers with weird mechanics.

Not saying he'll be a HOF QB ever, just that with proper work, a slower/windier motion is not a death sentence

I think we'd all love if Blake became a Rivers/Brees
Rivers has wonky mechanics but is a very smart QB and knows how to read defenses. Those are 2 things Bortles is missing. Being smart and knowing how to read defenses. And besides, I don't know the times, but I bet Rivers' release is much quicker.

I watched most of the chargers game and his release is slow but he makes up for it with ball placement and knowing where to go with the ball.  Brees is similar to Rivers.  They both know where to go with the ball and how to carve up a defense.

Blake grew up liking the gunslinger style play of Farve who leads in pick sixes but unlike Favre he doesn't have the quick release and zip on his throws.  Teams are bullying our WRs and stuffing the running lanes big time.  Blake has only beaten the Colts defense consistently at this point.

Funny joke I heard on 1010 this morning..... it was something like Bortles was not happy about choosing #5 for his jersey because He really wanted to pick 6.

I might throw up if we draft Lamar Jackson.

A lot.
If Bortles had to pick a number between 1 and 10, what would he pick?

Damn. Someone beat me to it. My joke was sooo creative.
Bortles is trash. He needs to be benched instantly the next time he does that again. It's getting old. And I am sick and tired of hearing those armchair amateur analysts on 1010XL who think they know better than the average fan. I keep hearing that argument about Henne not being any better. I am pretty sure we all get that. We understand that. But with four games left and the season over. And with Bortles CLEARLY demonstrating that he actually HURTS this team more than he HELPS it. What more do we have to lose other than more games? SInce, you know, we've won just ten times with him leading our offense. Maybe Henne or Allen see it as a chance to up their overall value to other teams in the NFL during the last four games of the season since we all know this front office, coaching staff and a decent amount of players on this current roster are fixing to get blown to hell.
