I'm pretty sure that many of them are Gene's illegitimate, orphaned children.

He tried, he just sucked at it.

Unfortunately, you almost have to trust the current GM and staff to make the correct decisions.. It's not like we have a choice in which staff members to hire and fire..
So yeah, I trusted that two bit donkey faced garbage pile..

Quote:Kirk Morrison.. Wow I forgot he was actually on the team
He actually wasn't that bad. The only problem I had was trading away a future pick for a 1 year stop gap. Gene really thought we were close.....smh

Quote:Gene wanted a balanced team, and he achieved that. We were balanced across the board, ranking in the bottom in every category.
Love this. It sums up Gene so well with so few words.

I don't think they traded a pick for him. I think he was a throw-in in a trade down. Either way, he was a decent one year stop gap at that position but his best years were behind him.

Your the goober and a troll. What did I have to with this thread? Nothing. I contributed nothing to this thread besides responding to your unnecessary call out. By the way, my opinion of him is supported by most on this board and came to truth. I don't talk of it. Only moving forward with this regime.
Your a sad man...really. Unnecessary to single me out. Block me if you have such an issue with me.

Me and you went back and forth over Gene, you where right I got no problem admiting that. I haven't seen you beat the drum like some others, the op more then anyone likes to beat that drum but I don't remember him around to much during the Gene years? I might've just over looked him?

I might've just over looked him?And I wish gene worked out because then we would be a good team. It's a message board. We are supposed to debate and disagree, don't appreciate the unnecessary call out over my opinion of the failed gm here. I was very outspoken against him, and it turned out, my concerns over him came out to be true. Dakota was very pro gene and I guess he's bitter he failed and has a grudge against me over it.
I don't care of gene anymore, it's in the past. Just want my team to do well. No hard feelings over any debates we got into!! Atleast you owned up to being wrong about gene.

I don't think you have to trust them.
You should give them the benefit of the doubt. You should have hope that they work out. But I think trust should be earned. For the first year it should be 'wait and see'. And then barring a major mistake or turnaround, year two should be 'wait and see' as well.
I never got the reason people trusted Gene Smith. In the beginning I was with the "Wait and See" crowd. Just like I am with Caldwell. They deserve the benefit of the doubt for their first year. Give time to see how players pan out, how things shape up, etc..
Looking back at it... the only thing I can see is Vic Ketchman saying some positive things about him and Tom Coughlin doing the same (several years ago).
I get why people wanted to believe. I just didn't get why they did. Because I wanted to believe too.

Your existence here was but not for the existence of a subpar gm. You were a one trick donkey for a couple years there. Your life revolved around the guy, as did your posting history. You literally didn't have another take about anything. I understand you're angry at me for pointing this out, but then again, I'm not the one who made you do it. I simply noticed.
Now, if that makes you angry and bitter toward me, I really don't give a rat's rear.

I actually don't know why we're fightin about that jerk anyway.. Whether you liked or disliked him, he's gone. No need to attack each other over this nonsense..
