Sorry I'm just picturing Suggs, Watt, JPP all on my line and Thomas in the seconday..........Damn you Gene, DAMN YOU!!!!!
Just because you passed on Alualu doesn't mean you get to pick JPP AND Earl Thomas. And Leftwich was a Shack Harris pick.
Quote:Just off the top of my head.

Byron Leftwhich - Terrell Suggs

Reggie Williams - Big Ben

Alualu - JPP, Earl Thomas

Gabbert - JJ Watt

This team has passed on so many great players it is sad.

You forgot..

Matt Jones - Aaron Rogers

Just a small example of the huge damage GS and Harris did long term to the Jags!!
Oddly, all of these draft day scenarios leaving us with a dream team don't involve having the #1 pick.

Oh, and this...

Derrick Harvey - Joe Flacco

If anything, that list tells us the Jags had those players undervalued, so in reality, the Jags should have won a few more games to make the pick match the value.
Quote:In 2003 the Jaguars sucked through the first 8 games of the season going 1-7 before finishing strong in the last 8 games; 4-4 with a capable defense. Now we've sucked through the first 8 games as well but we've improved now and have a real chance of finishing strong as well. Both 2003 had a new head coach and a new GM as well as a bit of a QB controversy. I'm not sure what this all means though.

You have a poor memory. In 2003 the Jaguars had multiple competitive losses in their first 8 games and a win. The team also had a lot of first round picks in or coming into their prime. (Taylor, Stroud, Henderson)

This team has been abysmal in its first 8 games with no competitive efforts at all, and has managed to win only because of the extreme ineptitude of their recent competition.

I will say this, though, I hope this team has one thing in common with the 2003 team: that there's a true franchise QB available at our pick in the following draft. Hopefully this time the team isn't stupid enough to pass on one for another Reggie Blackmon.

Reggie Blackmon?

Another in the long line of idiotic first round bust pass catcher picks.

RJ Soward, Reggie Williams, Mattloaf, Marcedes Lewis, and now Justin Blackmon.

I sum them all up as Reggie Blackmon. Guys that either couldn't perform or couldn't stop snorting/drinking/inhaling.

After this college season, I'm not sure if there are any franchise QBs coming out whereas in 2003, most experts thought Fitzgerald was a sure thing with pro bowl potential. At the time, we desperately needed a #1 wideout.

Fitzgerald was an obvious blue chip can't miss pick. Doesn't matter, though, the Jaguars won a bunch of meaningless games at the end of the season to preclude the chance of taking him. Still, they missed out on getting a potential future hall of fame level QB that they actually could have taken.
