I feel bad for the guy, but in my plan this is great news for the Jags. It will make his drafting by us as a secondary developmental QB that much cheaper - We'll be able to get him with one of our 4th or 5th rounders.
i agree i was thinkin the same thing
I'd easily take him in the 4th, he can use his rookie season as a "redshirt" then (assuming we get TB with the first pick) we'll have two good young QBs.
Are we the 49ers now that we can red shirt players?
We have way too many holes to be drafting players to red shirt, he was a 3rd or 4th rounder anyways he prob drop to 5th or 6th.
If we draft a QB in the first, no reason to draft another one, sign a vet backup better then Henne and Gabbert, keep Matt Scott as your development QB.
We need to be loading up in the draft on DL and OL, mixed in with LB, TE and RB
He'll have a great career as a backup holding a clipboard for 5-6 years. He wont take any of the punishment. He'll bank about 4-5 million dollars. And then he'll go on to be a coaching assistant at UGA for a few years before bouncing around as an assistant at college or a high school head coach.
Rough life.

Eeeeh please not Murray. Especially after this.
No thanks, even before injury
Saturday Down South sent out a tweet today...apparently Murray played 13 plays on that torn ACL.
The guy has heart...got to give him that!
All the ACL tears in the NFL is a sign!

Taller DBs or rules changes prevent attacking the knees.
All the fuss about giving the little guys a chance to play has led to chronic knee injuries. Time was when the only knee injuries that took place in the NFL were related to deliberately trying to disjoint the opponent's leg inside a pile up of players.
Small DBs and fleet linebackers can't make the plays pads up, so they are coached to directly attack the knees and ankles.

Why would you want David Caldwell to pick two quarterbacks when we need three offensive linemen, two defensive linemen, two outside linebackers, a tight end, and a running back?
For me, the question is absent the torn ACL, what kind of grade would he have?
I think if he had a first to second round grade, I could see a team with an established veteran QB taking a long term approach and take him in the first, early second and having a viable plan of succession.
If he were more a 2nd-3rd round guy, I can easily see him there for our pick in the 4th.
At that point, I'd be fine with taking him there.

Russel Allen and Geno Hayes are just fine thanks, that's not an immediate need.

Because a Russell Wilson may just be out there. Just because you need a punter doesn't mean you draft a punter. Same goes for LBs, RBs and other positions .... it's about value. See Aaron Rodgers (getting drafted when they already had a healthy Favre).

we actually need a MLB worse than OLB, Poz can't play forever

We only need a
backup MLB right now, and that can be acquired in free agency. Poz has many years left.

It took a long time for me to see Geno Hayes actually is a good player. He struggled during the first half of the season. Now he looks better, but I want to see him keep that up the next three weeks.

many years at playing at a high level? he turns 30 next year, and is going to carry a high salary
I'm not saying it's top priority to replace him, but it's also something that shouldn't be ignored

Poz is solid as a James Farrior type MLB. Consistent.
We need to surround him by playmakers

Why not just wait for the decline in performance to occur before you say we need to replace him? As long as he is playing at a high level, we are fine at MLB and don't need to pick one.
