Not saying this is going to happen or I want this to happen, but what if this happens?..
Jags draft Bridgewater at 1..
Clowney falls to pick #4..
We trade up to #4 and draft Clowney as well.
Now while this would be kind of cool, we would have to give up about 4/5 picks including a future first.
History would dictate one of those will be a bust. And even if they both turn out great we need more than two good players to improve.

Agreed.

While true....having the best offensive and defensive players from the draft on the same team is a good building block to start and makes the rest of the rebuild a LOT easier....
I usually hate the notion of trading up, but if they could net both of those players, I'd consider the deal.
If David Caldwell wants Jadaveon Clowney, he will either pick him at #1 or trade down. Our defense has been much better than the offense, so he has no reason to pick Clowney before a quarterback.

the only way he drafts clowney is if he doesnt believe teddy or whoever the top qb is not worth the first pick.
Atlanta had a good roster when they pulled the Julio Jones move and were afraid their draft picks would have trouble making the team. Can't imagine that would be a good move here. We're better off getting a guy next year or hoping we get lucky with a mid round pick. I'm cool with any trade down scenario though, even if we pass on Teddy. I get the impression that the 1st round of this draft is deeper and more talented than the last draft. But I could be wrong.
I think the asking price would be too much to move up to number #4. Would look great on paper but that would mean for the next few years we have no good picks and would have to build through FA which Caldwell has clearly stated he won't do. The idea would look amazing On paper and maybe we wouldn't be such a laughing stock though

So if David Caldwell does not believe the top quarterback is not worth the first pick, the first pick will be a quarterback.

I think my mind just ate itself...

yes
I'd be perfectly fine if we could just give up a 2015 first round pick and some midround picks since we'd essentially be getting our pick a year earlier. However, it would most likely require an RG3 level deal, which would be WAY too much for a DE, no matter how good he is.

Someone is going to trade out of the first round from the 4th pick...for a future first and some late round picks?
The 4th pick in the draft is equal to this year's 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th plus next year's 2nd and 3rd. Too expensive!!!!
