Was a rumor started on PFT about Big Ben being traded in the offseason. If he was available what would you give for him a 1st or a 2nd ?
I would offer our 2nd and then get a good QB to sit a year or two behind him and learn the positon, I think he may have a couple years left as a Good QB.
And would he upgrade our team if we did pick him up?
Nothing because I don't think he's a good QB anymore.
I would give a 3rd. To say he isn't a good QB anymore is crazy.
Just remember... we could have had him, but took Leftwich instead

They weren't even in the same draft

Nope we took reggie williams 3 or 4 picks before Pitt to Ben.
Way to go Shack
I would give them our second round pick. No joke...he may not be as good as he used to be, but if we don't go QB in the first round, I think it's worth the risk for a second rounder.

we could do that and trade the 1st pick back and get the 2nd round pick back(only later) get Carr and let hims sit behind Ben for a couple years.

13 TDs, 10 INTs, leading the NFL in sacks.
That's not to say that's all his fault, but he'll never be able to do what he used to behind any line, which was stand back there, hold the ball for too long, shrug off defenders, and still get the pass off, And that's a big, big reason why he's being sacked so much.
He's serviceable, but it'd be hard to convince me that he's still "good" after seeing his play this year.

My bad. I got the Reggie Williams/Big Ben draft mixed up with Leftwich/Suggs
I wouldn't give up much for him. Probably not enough to actually get him. Now if we were in the shape that KC's in, then I'd probably trade a 2nd. But in the shape we're in, I'd maybe trade a 4th and a 5th :o
I know he's worth more than that obviously. I pretty much wouldn't trade for him though. He'll be 32 next year, and just hasn't looked the same recently.

In Shack's defense, we did not need a quarterback that year.
You always need a QB. See Favre/Rodgers...

Especially when compared to the current Packers QB situation with Aaron Rodgers out for a while.
a ham sammich...second thought....a peanut butter sammich.
Man, wouldn't that drive the squealers crazy?
Considering the 49ers are going to end up with two 2nd Round picks for Alex Smith, it's fair to say that Big Ben won't come cheap.
3rd is the highest I would go

The Packers did not need a quarterback. The idea was let Rodgers learn from one of the best quarterbacks - maybe even
the best active quarterback. It had nothing to do with needing a backup QB that year. The plan worked and helped Rodgers become an elite quarterback.

Aaron Rodgers' success had nothing to do with sitting on the bench behind Brett Favre.
For those of us with high school and college age daughters...please dont bring him here!!!!
A conditional 6th rounder.
After drafting Teddy, Ben can play the role that Brunell did for the Saints and Jets.
