Luck may not play to his hype but he's in no way a bust.

Richardson on the other hand...

I'm confident Haterade was kidding regarding Andrew Luck.    Coming off arguably the worst game the Colts have played since Andrew Luck came to Indianapolis,  my guess is the vast majority of the team looked like busts for the few hours of the game.
This was almost as enjoayable as the Jags winning!!!

clots suck.

Colts did not show up on Sunday. What the heck were they thinking? Did they think that they should take the day off and let the Rams run them over?

I doubt Hilton would be doing much with Henne/Gabbert.

Atleast we didn't trade our first round pick for a guy with less talent than most team's backup RB's :woot:

Um.... could we have some perspective here?

Colts record the last 10 years

2013 6-3-First place in the AFC South by 2 games. Playoff bound for the second straight year with a young, dominate franchise QB. Victories over Denver, Seattle and SF.

2012 11-5- Playoffs

2011 2-14- One of only 2 losing seasons the Colts have had in the last 15 years .

2010 10-6 Playoffs

2009 14-2 Super Bowl

2008 12-4 Playoffs

2007 13-3 Playoffs

2006 12-4 Super Bowl Champions

2005 14-2 Playoffs

2004 12-4 Playoffs

2003 12-4 Playoffs

The Colts won 12 or more games for a record 7 consecutive seasons. No team in NFL history including the Packers of the 60s, Steelers of the 70s, 49ers of the 80s, Cowboys of the 90s, and Patriots of the 00s can match that record.

No team has won the AFC south more often than the Colts.

The Colts have been a playoff team an amazing 13 times in the last 15 years. A feat unmatched by any team in the NFL.

After one down season in 2011, the Colts rebounded to 11-5 and a playoff birth. This year they will likely win the AFC South division and host a playoff game despite losing half of their staring offense to IR including a future Hall of Famer, and playing a schedule that through the first 9 games ranks as one of the toughest in the league.  How's that for a new regime buliding a quality roster from the bottom up? Smile

Do the Colts make mistakes? Yes. Every team does. But this team from Dungy, to Caldwell, to Arians to Pagano gets a lot right. From Polian to Griggs, our GM, the owner and team structure has been vastly superior to anything in the history of the Jaguars or most teams in the NFL.  The Jaguars would kill for 25% of the success the Colts have. The Colts get a lot right. Lets not forget that.

The Colts are one of the most dominate NFL franchises this league has to offer. It has been that way for 15 years. Despite this, the Colts field a young roster and are in prime position  to dominate for many years to come! It's really amazing! They are one of the most successful franchises in all of sports.

Perspective, people. Perspective.

Not really.  Not even one of the most successful franchises in the NFL.  The 49ers, Steelers, Patriots, Cowboys, Packers are all more successful.  That means they're not even in the Top 5, and even then I could name a few more.  Then you have other sports with teams that have dominated over the years that would make the Colts wish they had 25% of their success.
In the last 30 seasons,   another team that I think deserves serious consideration as one of the most successful NFL Franchises is the Giants.     The Giants won 4 Super Bowls in the last 27 seasons and went to another Super Bowl in which they lost to the Baltimore Ravens.    There have been many other playoff appearances for the Giants in the 30 season time span.    If the Giants aren't in the top 5 in this time span,   I can't picture them being lower than # 6.

This kinda reminds me of when Al Bundy used to talk about his glory days in high school.

If you honestly don't regard the Indianapolis Colts as currently among the best franchises in all of sports, then frankly, you just don't know sports.

Ah yes... the days of yesteryear!

Such as:

Currently being 6-3 and in first place in the AFC South by 2 full games.

Fielding one of the youngest rosters in the NFL

Having a franchise QB in just his second season

Looking for back to back playoff appearances while rebuilding.

Ah yes.... the glory days of yesteryear indeed.

Its a good thing we don't live in the past isn't it?

Good post. The Giants are hard to quantify. They have 2 Super Bowls which is the ultimate goal of any team. What holds them back is inconsistency. And even the year they won the Super Bowl they were just 9-7 in the regular season. They are hard to categorize. But I do see your point.

Top NFL Franchises this Century. (off the top of my head)

1) Patriots

2) Steelers

3) Colts

4) Giants

5) Packers or Eagles

Bottom 5 (in any order)

Raiders

Bills

Browns

Buccaneers

Rams

Good sub topic!

Well he already established that the Colts aren't a top 5 NFL team, so how far down the list do you go in each league?

The colts have had a good run of luck and frankly the NFL should change the draft rules to stop what happened when the colts decided to tank the 2011 season. Maybe make draft position based on the record over the last two seasons instead of just the last one. That way only teams with sustained futility would be able to have the top pick.

Of course not!

You'd much rather use that 1st round pick on a QB who might be lucky enough to make most teams practice squad!

Yes.

We'd also much rather not lose to the rams by more than 14 points.

Yes.

You'd much rather lose 8 of your first 9 games.

(hey, this game is kinda fun!)
