Quote:Speaking of the Brazil World Cup....After the first round of ticket allocations for the 2014 WC the United States accounts for 2nd most behind Brazil and nearly three times the amount of the next country (England)
To be fair, we have like 5 times the population of the UK and 100 million more people than Brazil. The only nations with a higher population than the US are China and India. I'm not saying that we don't have a soccer fanbase here, just that the numbers aren't nearly as staggering as you'd think when you consider the total population of the nations involved.

This is true. The numbers far outweigh those to this point of previous WC's. The American Outlaws are really pushing this.

Another thing to note is that a good number of those people that bought tickets in the US, probably aren't rooting for the US team. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the tickets were allocated to immigrants from other countries.

Honestly, the team they are rooting for has no real significance as far as this conversation is concerned because we're discussing overall interest in the sport. You're almost certainly correct that we have a significant immigrant population that may not be rooting for the US team, but it doesn't impede the overall growth of soccer popularity in the states.
A thread on baseball's declining popularity gets hijacked by soccer fans because it was getting boring.
I guess you can't get a more perfect indictment of the sport than that.

As the OP who started this thread, I believe that talking about other Sports and their own popularity and fanbase's in regards to Baseball, are a worthy point of discussion.

No argument from me there then.

My post wasn't a complaint.
I just noticed that baseball is so done as a compelling sport, we'd rather talk about soccer. All in a topic about the decline of baseball. I found it kinda ironic.

Not ironic, but definitely telling.
EDIT: Also, the use of the term "hijack" may have been what resulted in <a class="" href='http://jungle.jaguars.com/index.php?/user/23244-jagswilldestroyyou/' title=""><span>Jagswilldestroyyou</a></span>'s response.
