Source: Willie Jefferson to visit Jaguars
Former <a class="" href='http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/hou'>Houston Texans</a> outside linebacker <a class="" href='http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/players/180350'>Willie Jefferson</a> is set to visit the <a class="" href='http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/jac'>Jacksonville Jaguars</a>, according to a league source.

Jefferson is a 6-foot-5, 241-pound rookie who was dismissed from the team for violating team rules.

He was released along with defensive end <a class="" href='http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/players/179012'>Sam Montgomery</a>, who visited the <a class="" href='http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/cin'>Cincinnati Bengals</a> last week, and running back Cierre Wood

We would definitely be "Moving On Up"!

I don't know, maybe give him a shot...some people make good on 2nd chances. At this point I'm at a loss.
I love the angle that this would give the player if he ends up signing here. If playing against the team twice this season alone that cut him isn't motivation, nothing is. Of course, a lot of this depends on whether or not the player has the God-given talent to play football.

I like his name.

He must be good.

but Geno Hayes is elite

Us Texans fans where really impressed with Willie Jefferson in the pre-season. He looked like he had a lot of potential. I think if given a chance, he will do great for your Jags.....IF....he really is innocent. Even if he isn't, hopefully he learned a lesson and can now take his career seriously.

Excellent. Improvements. Yes.... Win games Jacksonville.... Yesssss.

Sincerely,

Greg Schiano

So.....don't bring in the best player of the 3 Texans that were released (Montgomery),...bring in Jefferson....makes sense.... :ermm:

Thank god you're not a GM. You'd never have the first overall pick with that kind of thinking.

Correct me Im wrong but wouldn't Jefferson fit the LEO role better than OLB?

You were the one who said you didn't want Montgomery because he would add too many wins to our record.

and wouldn't Sam Montgomery fit the LEO even more so than Jefferson?

I probably would have avoided all 3. But if they are going to bring one in then why not bring the best one in?? Not thinking about this year, but the future.
honestly, im sick of this "LEO" talk.  We need good players.  I would rather get a bunch of good players and let them figure out how to play the system.  Fact is, the "LEO" or whoever will have to win a 1-on-1 matchup... which is something nobody on our defense is able to do.

So get a guy who isn't a LEO but can actually rush the passer in some fashion.  Get good players, I think getting guys that "fit your scheme" who may be less talented is the wrong way to do things.  What if in 2 years we change coaches and he realizes he doesn't want to play with the LEO or with that scheme?  What's he gonna do?  Cut everyone and start all over?  Get good players that can play football dammit.

If your point is a really good head coach adapts/ designs his scheme around his players, I generally agree.
