I know he still works with Troy Aikman. The Redskins/Broncos game started before the Cowboys/Lions game ended, so if his subsitute said anything, I missed it.

He was in St. Louis as the FOX play by play announcer for the Red-Sox- Cardinals World Series game # 4.

That certainly was a boring job compared to his regular one.

My guess is most announcers would jump at the opportunity to be the play by play person for the entire World Series.     With this season's World Series featuring two of the best franchises in baseball and tremendous fan bases,    I'm sure Joe Buck is thrilled to be in his home town of St. Louis doing what his HOF father did for many decades.

I had no idea Buck was from St. Louis and loved basebal.

Joe Buck's father,   Jack Buck,  was the St. Louis Cardinals play by play person on KMOX-AM for decades.    Jack Buck also did national TV baseball games and was an NFL broadcaster.   He partnered with former Chiefs and Saints Head Coach Hank Stram on NFL broadcasts for many years.    Jack Buck is a legend in St. Louis!

Joe Buck has been the lead play-by-play guy for MLB coverage on Fox for 18 seasons.  If Fox is broadcasting the World Series, he's the guy making the calls.

I thought the World Series was always on Fox.

Fox didn't even exist until the mid 1980's.

For years,  the World Series was on NBC and then ABC.

I meant the networks don't rotate the World Series like they do with the Super Bowl.

The norm in MLB has been for a long time that a network has the rights to the World Series based on a multi-year contract with Major League Baseball.

On the other hand,   in the earlier round of the playoffs,   both FOX and TBS are currently television partners with MLB.     TBS did the early rounds of the playoffs and they split the League Championship series.     This year,   TBS did the National League Championship series and FOX did the American League Championship Series.
