Quote:Elite passrusher with a backup QB with a low ceiling = basically where we are now.
We have an elite pass rusher?!?!?

He must not watch the games.
Clowney or Barr

Best case scenario is a team that needs a QB like the Vikings is sitting at 2 and would give us their 2nd this year and maybe a 2nd next year to move up and get Teddy and we still get Clowney along with some picks.

Only if we think Teddy will not be a good NFL QB.

If we believe he is, we're not trading the pick for anything.

Yeah, if they think he will be the only good QB.  But I doubt that.
Quote:Clowney in the 1st, McCarron in the 2nd

This is what I would want as well.
There is a saying in the GM world... "There are teams that have a franchise QB, and those that will do anything to get one".

Unfortunately, we don't have one.  Caldwell will select the best available QB with the first pick.  My guess it is Bridgewater at this time, but Mariota is gaining on him.  Taking a lesser talented QB in the second round will not be an option with a GM coming from a background of Manning and Ryan.  A good "LEO" can be found easier in round 2 than a good QB.

Was Brees and Kap lesser talaented QBs because they were taken in the 2nd?  Was Rodgers less talented because he was taken at the end of the 1st?  Was Montana less talented cause he was taken in the 3rd? Brady less because he was in the 6th?  Wilson in the 3rd?
It depends on a couple factors:

1. Is this the first pick in the first round? If it is, and there is a true franchise q.b. then you take him. Right now, I'm not so sure that there is 1 guy who

stands out above the others. Bridgewater may be the guy, but I'm still not sure. In his last 2 games, he looked far from spectacular in the first and

his team lost the 2nd to UCF. I trust Caldwell will make the correct decision.

2. Assuming they do have pick 1 and no q.b. does stand out, I would try to trade back a few spots to a team if they were willing to give us at least

two additional high picks such as a 2nd next year and a first or 2nd the following year. I would then select either a q.b. or LEO with the first pick

and then trade back into the first with 1 of their seconds and a 3rd or 4th to get their q.b. in case they get either Clowney or Barr in the first. I

believe that there will be a very good q.b. still available who can win in the NFL. Again, I trust Caldwell will make the correct decision after

thoroughly evaluating McCarron, Metzenberger, Manziel, Murray, Mariotta and Morris (and anyone else whose name begins with "M").

This team has so many needs that it will take at least 2 years after this to have a team with a winning record. I hope Bridgewater or 1 of the "M"

quarterbacks makes this an easy decision for Caldwell by "lighting it up" the remainder of this season and through the Combine process. If not,

trading back for the extra picks would be the easy choice.

I would trade down as often as I could and stockpile picks. I would rather get 5 or 6 picks in the first 2-3 rounds than 2-3 picks. There are a lot of holes to fill. The faster they are filled, the happier everyone will be.

Why not just trade everything away and stockpile 20 6th round picks?  After all, Brady was drafted in the 6th.

All kidding aside,  I definitely like that we have 10 picks next year.  We have tons of holes.

We aren't taking your awful Aaron Murray, kiddo.

We are taking a QB in the first round. You need to accept it and move on.

At this point it's Barr or Matthews.

I think we win at least one game, the Bucs we have to worry about but I think the Vikings are the other team we have to worry about to get the 1st pick.  They are horrible.

Lol the people that post in the Jaguars forum are uber silly. Thank god this finally got moved to college football so the people who really know about prospects and junk can confirm that it's Teddy > Mariota >>>>>>>> everything else. It's not a contest sorry to the Jagwhyers amongst us.

Pretty much. And unless Mariota gets put in a pro style offense and stops having sub 60% completion games on a regular basis, he is not passing Bridgewater.
I would love Teddy first overall. However, I love JFF for some reason (and I go to Florida, and hate Tebow for the Jags). Stork from FSU would be great in the second. Ideally, I would want Washington's TE in the second, but I don't see him dropping that far.

Teddy Bridgewater, no doubt in my mind.
Quote:man we suck. Good coaches can get better results. They have shown no ability to do it. Poor Khan has been fooled again. I feel for him. He doesnt know how to find the right guys. Interviews are misleading. I bet coughlin would have not pressed him if he just met him. Back in the day. Hes not able to pick gms and coaches. He must be so damn mad at this situation. He wants to win but he had alot to learn. But i bet he already sees he made another mistake. Poor guy. And KC is teaching him what he did wrong. Burns!
