Quote:TE, the Jags need the kind of TE that half of the rest of the league has. I.e. a good one. A guy that gets receiving yards in chunks and does this more than just once or twice per game.
It seems like most of the top TE's in the league were drafted in mid-rounds or were undrafted. And I don't think it is a coincidence that guys like Graham, Gates, Jordan Cameron and Julius Thomas played college basketball.
This year seems to be deep for tight ends. Eric Ebron from UNC is rated high but I have seen him drop a ton of passes. And Jace Amaro from Texas Tech and Austin Sefarian-Jenkins are both good prospects but have had off the field issues.
QB ...the Gabbert/Henne experiment is over.
DE/LEO ...Babin/Branch can not get pressure.
OG ...Rackley is not good.
OC ...not sold on Brewster taking over.
DT ...got to stop the run inside.
OLB ...they aren't making plays.
RT ...my jury is out on Pasztor.
Giant TVs, Swimming pools, Home games played at neutral sites, New and improved locker room, weight room, team jet.
That's all I've seen/ heard so far. so the current players should be happy.
Yeah, a few decent players and play calling would be pretty cool. Sadly, if for some reason the team doesn't get Teddy, I fear the new healthcare will be tested with the bandwagon injuries.
Sad to be talking about next year already, and after last year, many, including moi, said, welp, it can't get any worse. Doh!
Other than receiver, everything.
QB - By far our highest need and a plague upon all who watch football.
OG: I have this ahead of DE almost solely because of Rackley being so horrid. Uche continues to age and not gracefully.
DE - We NEED a pass rusher and have needed one for years now. Occasional pressure doesnt make up for the constant cookie baking time Qbs get on us.
DT - Get a big body who can tackle for gods sake. Ryan Matthews had no business going over 100 on us. Same for the Colts running game killing us. Our DTs were embarrased this past game being repeatedly moved around like shuffle board pieces.
TE - If Marcedes never steps foot on an NFL field with a Jags logo on id be happy. He cant even catch the fade route that made him famous anymore. Its pathetic to watch a 6'7 TE have no ability to go over the top of a 6'0 CB in the endzone.
RT - Joeckel slides to the left...Who takes over?
RB - Mojo has looked better the last few weeks but we still need someone....Denard Robinson?
C - Not sold on brewster at all.
QB - We suck so bad i had to list it twice.
In order:
QB: Only 1 in the draft though, we have many other needs are more important than a backup QB. You look for one of those once you have a solid roster.
LEO: The most important position on the defense. I think we sign a big name FA because the cba forces us to spend.
LG/C - Ranking these together because they are equally as bad. I think we use a combination of drafting one in the 3rd, and signing another decent FA.
NT - Roy Miller was a run stuffer for the bucs in the past, but he has been horrible this year. We need someone who doesnt get blown off the ball.
RB - MJDs gone after this year. I think D Robinson will get some more carries next year, but as a spell back to whoever we draft. Im hoping for either Gordon or a rule change to let us draft Kelvin Taylor in the 2nd round.
5-Tech: Alualu needs to be replaced. His contract is up so I think he will probably leave.
MLB - Poz is probably gone because his contract jumps up to almost 10M a year, Thats the highest in the league for a MLB and he doesnt deserve anything near that.
TE: Need an athletic guy to provide more pass catching than Marcedes.
CB: We have had solid corner play, but we could still upgrade.
OLBs: Both will be replaced sooner rather than later.
Im leaving off RT because Paztor has been dominating according to PFF. Their offensive and defensive line grades are really the only ones I trust.

What? Alu contract isnt up
I don't think we need a MLB, I think Reynolds can fill that void. I would at least like to try him there first
You also need to add another passrusher, on passing downs Gus likes to have them on both ends just like he did in Seattle with Clemons and Irvin.
Everything.
Except kicker and punter. Thank god we've got those. Also maybe WR.

WR is still going to be a need. Blackmon and Shorts are going to be a good combo, but Shorts can get nicked up from time to time. Would be nice to have at least a reliable guy who can spell when that happens.
1. QB - Duh. If this needs to be explained, then you haven't been paying attention at all for the past 7+ years.
2. G/C - Rackley sucks. Uche isn't doing well at all. Meester should have retired. Nobody else has shown anything worth keeping.
3. DE
4. TE
5. DT
6. WR
It won't all happen at once, but I do expect them to draft a top QB next year and go after the Oline/Dline in the draft and free agency. Honestly, with better QB and Oline play, this team is competitive.
Anger is really making me mad too. I'm so sick of seeing returners having 10+ yards of open space because he almost always out kicks the coverage.
I don't care to address the top ten needs of the team...that's getting silly. Lets just say that we need a quarterback. A real, NFL quarterback. A leader of the offense with some game sense, a good arm, and the ability to win games. Once we get that I feel that our needs will look quite different. Two years ago we had a top ten defense and the leading rusher in the league...what did that result in??? Get a quarterback!

I think he actually has two years left after this year.
Quote:What? Fisch is doing great. Were you not impressed with that QB run he called on 3rd and 4 that got completely stuffed?
That dude makes me really mad.
Great players make great coaches. But I'm sure that Madden has trained thousands of Junior Offensive Coordinators. Just keep waiting for that phone to ring.
In order to rebuild you must first have a strong foundation. In regards to a football organization that starts with Management / Coaching but on the field would have to be the QB (The team's natural leader especially on Offense & the Oline to make them all look good). On Defense I've always felt an elite Safety was the best way to start which we were told they drafted in the 2nd round, and the 1st round was the key part to making our Oline strong (especially combined with Monroe) that is why the Eugene Monroe trade is still confusing the crap out of me.
If they can address the following, things will undoubtedly be "better" next season.
QB
LG
C
DE
There are plenty of other needs - but upgrading those four positions will definitely translate to actually winning some games.
So many needs but the most important one is really...a actual QB. Plain and simple, probably one of the worse positions on this team. We have decent offensive weapons but for a QB, not so great to use em.
In order of need.
QB
LEO
C
RT
DBs
TE
Quote:OW
Can we just draft 10 of these next year??
Woops, and a punter as well.
There are pieces at every position group. QB is a must, and even then it will be 1-2 years before the roster is up to par to really compete imo.
