Well damn!

We have a winner on our hands… We need to make sure we lock him up for the next decade.
Negan for coach? He would make these guys play.

Quote:Negan for coach? He would make these guys play.
Nah, he's only good at baseball.
Quote:Gus is signed through the end of the 2017 season. Shad should let Gus complete his contract. We don't need to attract a new DC or OC and won't be spending big in FA, so Gus's lame duck status shouldn't be a factor.

I believe we have everything in place for success, except for a few spots on the OL. Bortles needs to spend the time in California to address his mechanics, and there should be an open competition among the 3 or 4 QBs we bring to camp.

As for resigning our own FAs, we can postpone the decision on Bortles, Robinson and Lee for another year if we want. Maybe give Linder a new deal since he is definitely a core player. I would give Prince a new contract.

If the conspiracy theorists are correct, and Shad is trying to destroy the Jacksonville fanbase and move to London, he will either keep Gus or hire somebody even worse than Gus. If the people who feel the NFL and the officials are against us, a new coach won't change that "losing culture". It will continue.

This team is playing much better right now than at any time in the past 5 years. Games like the ones against Green Bay, KC, Detroit, Buffalo, etc would have been blowouts 2 years ago. Now we are outplaying these teams and losing only by horrible officiating and/or fluke plays.

We absolutely need better QB play, better OL play, and a better pass rush. The defense is very young, yet they are currently 6th in yards against. At the beginning of the year we hoped we could be middle of the pack in the defensive rankings. The defense is coming along nicely. Another strong draft could put us over the top.

Blowing it all up would set us back at least 2 years.

Shad should give a 2017 mandate of PLAYOFFS OR YER GONE! Not this vague "has to look better" stuff.

I'm 99.99999999999999% certain you're trolling. But if Gus got another year, I would not support this team while he was here.
No and if he is given another year due to bortles and bring in another qb.  Still will not be happy. Cause really is the only card he can play left.

This thread is actually a thing?

Oh, ok then.

Gus has lost 45 out of 59 games. Please do not bring him back.
Quote:We're so bad, even ISIS has expressed their sympathy for us.
link please.
Quote:You already made a thread that said Todd Wash for head coach and now you say give Gus another year at Head Coach?

https://jungle.jaguars.com/index.php?/to...ead-coach/

You are more lost than the coaches.

I could also start a thread about Tom Coughlin.  What's your point?  Each thread is meant to discuss each idea.

How many threads will be started about coaching changes that have 0% chance of happening - Cowher, Gruden, etc?

Quote:I think Gus should be signed to a lifetime contract.
As a celebrity spokesperson.

By Baskin Robbins.

He can wear #31.

Yoda?
lol

Quote:We were all ready to move on from Mularkey, Del Rio and Coughlin.

They each have proven that they're capable (to varying levels) in different locations.

Did they just suddenly become amazing coaches once they left 904?

Mularkey barely had a chance, under Gene Smith, with a crap roster, and was mostly a victim of a new GM wanting his own coach.  Lets be fair though... it isn't like he suddenly turned the Titans into a powerhouse.  He went 2-7 after taking over last year, and has them at an incredible 6-6 so far this year... Improvement?  Sure... but no one should be satisfied w/ .500.

Del Rio, I think we're all starting to see that it was truly a Gene Smith/Shack Harris issue.  I think that became abundantly clear after Del Rio left and things only got worse.   That said, he's a career .503 coach, who's had a couple of spike seasons (12-4, 11-5, currently 9-2).  Certainly not "amazing", but again, career .503

Coughlin was let go and that was a mistake.  In fact, Weaver has publicly said as much.  He acknowledges that was not a good move.  I was still a bit young at the time so my history is a bit fuzzy, but my understanding is that Salary Cap issues played a big part in his being let go.  Coughlin's career percentage?  .537

Gus Bradley currently has a .237 record.

Literally the WORST in the Modern NFL.

Second Worst EVER.

I've seen Apples compared to Oranges before...

This isn't even THAT close.

Also.. as I've said before.  If he's retained next season, I walk away.  I will no longer be able to consider myself a fan of the team.  I'll casually watch Football, but will have little to no interest in how the Jags do.

Yea, if Gus is back next year, it's gonna be hard to justify wasting my Sundays watching the clown show. I've been a Jags fan for nearly all of my life and I haven't missed a single game in over a decade. But every "relationship" has a breaking point and I think that would be mine.

Khan bringing back Gus for another year would be a big [BLEEP] you to all the loyal fans and the city of Jacksonville.
I'm still shocked that people are saying "but you don't know the coach. What if it's worse?!"

It can't get worse. He is statistically the worst coach of all time. So no... it can't get worse.
WOW.

is OP trying to qualify for Worst Post of the Year?? lol

The thread is partly a troll but keeping Gus should at least be considered.  I'm certain Shad is considering it as one of his options, however slim.  I'm one of the last off the Gus bus and wanted to see if anyone was still on.  Guess not.

Don't feed the troll. This topic is obviously troll bait

You can't say Del Rio was done in by Gene Smith and Shack Harris and then call him a .500 ball coach. His record more indicates what he's dealt with than the work of his coaching. Clearly when he gets a piece of talent he takes it and turn it into a contender. Even when it's below average he's made them hard to beat. What would you think he would've done with this same roster this season?
