Secondary of the future is in place: The jags coaching and scouting staff have done a fantastic job at rebuilding this secondary. There is good depth right now. Will Blackmon, Alan Ball, Mike Harris, and Gratz can all play. Cyprien and Evans are already making plays and will only get better with time. As it turns out the Mathis and Cox cuts look pretty good right now
The Oline is improving: The Jaguars trade their LT who they would not have resigned and it's panning out. The Jaguars have had their best 2 games since departing with Monroe. Joeckle goes out and the line does not miss a beat. Clearly a big need of improvement in the offseason they are playing better.
Blackmon: I watch how this guy runs with power and just snatches balls out of the air. This guy is the real deal. Blackmon in the slot is a dangerous combination.
Henne: Henne is not the franchise but a big step up from the alternative. Games should atleast be competitve from this point out and have some moments to cheer.
Poz: He maybe having his best year as a LB. For those who have payed attention his coverage skills have improved. Aside from the pick 6 poz has not been burnt like he was last season.
Marks: I don't see him as a full time starter but a pass rushing specialist. He has shown he has the burst to penetrate the backfield and get to the QB.
Sanders: Been pretty good in the return game. He has that can break out at anytime quickness.
I would like for us to extend Will Blackmon and Marks soon.
It irks me to think that a couple of these one year deals that are paying off, are players who are probably going to be playing elsewhere once we get competitive.

I wouldn't want us to sign them to no more than a 1 yr. deal...if they replicate their success again in 2014 THEN give them.a 2 -3 yr. deal. We've been burned too many times based on a player having a good season.

But... You may be able to sign them to a team friendly 2-3 year deal now. If they have 2 years of back to back success, that cost will rise steeply.

I think they've done a good job at rebuilding the secondary as it pertains to the short term. But I am not sold on all of these guys in the back 4 as all long term answers. But they are absolutely easily better than the players that we were putting out there weekly last season, no doubt. I will agree with that.
Marks is a top 5 DT this year according to PFF.
This entire thread is an oxymoron for a majority of Jaguar fans.
They don't want to be good. If there is any possibility of being good, the team could possibly win.
A Jaguar win is the death knell of the bibber.
You see, the bibber says that they're sick of losing, but wants to do nothing but lose. They see winning as a failure. If players develop and become competitive, the bibber sees that as a threat. It means that this team could actually win a game or two. That is like Kryptonite to the bibber. We must keep the bibber happy by losing every game possible in order to get their hand picked guy who may or may not work out. Even if it does, it damages the draft position, and bibber is once again upset.
It's a no win situation, and one best avoided at any cost. You can not ever win with a bibber. Bibber doesn't live in the same world.

The non bibbers and non self soilers defended Gene Smith for years.
We bibbers and self soilers identified him as the problem.
Who was right?

Speaks the truth.
The Majority of the board do not root for the jags to lose. I root for them to win every game.
Marks was a great pick-up by Dave.

Some people want Dave Caldwell to have the opportunity to draft any QB available. And if he doesn't select Bridgewater, they will be happy about it (as long as it turns out to be the right decision), but they want Caldwell to have the opportunity. Especially in a year that the team appears non-competitive. They would rather end the season 1-15 with the 1st pick, than 2-14 with the 2nd or 3rd pick.
We want a QB that will make this team competitive. Once you get your franchise QB, you don't want to tank. Nobody wants to get Bridgewater and then tank the season. They want whoever the next QB is to come in, and start winning.
The only fans who don't want the team to be successful are the Tebowites.

Exactly!
History has shown us 2 things.
1. Most of the starting QB's in the NFL were not #1 overall picks.
2. There are no sure things in the NFL draft. I have seen many "can't miss" players bust.
I think it's better for every player on this team to put his best effort on the field every week. In doing that you find out who can and cannot really play . We are a bad team and will get one of the top selections in the draft. Even if this team got a top 3 pick and ended up picking clowney would that really be bad? We do need a QB but it does not have to be in the 1st round.

Do you deny that the premise behind the NFL's draft order rules is that providing the weakest teams the greatest access to the available talent pool is the quickest way to make them competitive? If you do, why do you think the rules establishing draft order are the way they are? How does your alternate theory comport with the concepts of competitive balance and parity?
