I'm still an Engineer, but I'm not a Design Engineer anymore. Now I'm a Design - Projects Engineer! Now instead of actually using my degree, I have to shuffle all of the paperwork that I was avoiding for years.

I generally sit on my butt all day and let computer programs do all the heavy calculations.

I'm a private security guard getting paid peanuts to babysit properties overnight and all of my funds go to paying off a small college debt that I have.
I hate it and I'm sure I'll be suicidal if I have to do it for too long. It's hard to find a decent job in Denver without a degree. Hopefully I can get back into school and get a degree in something I actually want to do.

It's too broad of a field to be able to give you an all-encompassing, generic definition but I can try to lay out what a day around my office is like.
My job is to ensure that any modifications planned or performed on the Nuclear Stations that my company operates are within the parameters of both the Original Design and the Federal Regulations that were originally agreed upon. I am also responsible for scripting those changes and recognizing whatever impacts the changes will have on both the existing design and existing operational procedures. Basically, how the station works and how the station is worked on.
I spend a lot of time in meetings with Vendors, Craftsmen, Work Planners, Supervisors, Procurement Specialists, my laptop, and a Speaker Phone. Oh, and I do a few coffee runs during the day as well.

Nah, Homer is an Operator. Which is rather surprising since most operators that I know have a
distinctly different attitude than H. J. Simpson. I'm just a corporate desk monkey that does calculations and writes up justifications all day.

My commute is about 6 feet.
Working from home has its advantages. Now, when someone attempts to break into a house on the cul de sac, I'm the neighborhood watch since my office faces the street. The guy across the street from me also works from home, so we've got it covered.
The big disadvantage of working from home is remembering what quitting time is. For some reason, the day never seems to end like it did when I worked in an office.
I'm not even sure what my title is anymore. It's some sort of senior HRIS data analyst title, but it's changed so often that I just go with the flow. All I know is my client loves me, and the vendor I deal with does as well. Keep those two happy and the checks keep showing up every other week.

As I was saying to Deacon earlier. The project I was on was about to come to an end so I would have been back on the road again at least every other week. I traveled WAY too much for a solid ten years and I just wasn't going to do it again. I would've gone bonkers.
