Just watched a few of his cut ups this season. He has number one overall pick type talent. Took on double teams and still made an impact. Cat-like agility. Ridiculous motor. He's a monster. I see a lot of Aaron Donald in his game.

I wouldn't be mad if he represented the black and teal next season.
Agreed. He also represents a need. We still lack a consistent pass rush, and this guy can get after the qb. Also, collapsing the pocket to help out Yannick and Fowler doesn't hurt. Miller is coming off a bad injury, and Senderrick isn't close to the player he was two years ago. It's a need and depth issue. God knows we have a handful of those on this team, and if he's the BAP, I think he's the guy to take.
I think Garrett is my #1, but I would definitely be happy with Allen.  He's Bama's best player.  Thing I love about him the most is his hands.  He stays so busy and has such a great motor that he's so hard to block.  Go to a 4-3 base, put him next to Malik, and we're going to tear it up on defense.

I'd be okay with him. Seems like we still don't have that top 5 dline player we need to have an elite defense. Like a Von Miller, JJ Watt, Aaron Donald type guy

As things stand now, the Jaguars will be picking either 3rd or 4th with Cleveland and S.F. ahead of them. Even if the Bears lose out and pick 3rd, there's still a very good chance that either Garrett or Allen will be available for the Jaguars. In my opinion, these would be equally great picks and potentially put their defense over the top if Jack, Fowler, Ramsay and Yannick show typical improvement from year 1 to year 2.

Quarterbacks are always overdrafted by desperate teams and the Browns, S.F. and Bears all need quarterbacks although Kaepernick's performance last week may give the 49er's hope that he can still eventually become their franchise q.b. For that reason, among others, I hope he struggles for the remainder of this season.

The Bears and 49ers also play each other, so either one of those teams has to win at least one more game.

We currently have the tiebreaker vs. CHI, so if 49ers win and we lose, we'd be at the #2 spot for the time being since I think 49ers have the stronger strength of schedule.
Yanick - Malik Jackson - Johnathon Allen - Fowler

Thats a nice D-Line

With Sheldon Day in there as well. I like it.
He's a clean a prospect as you'll get.

If Allen or Myles Garrett are there you take them and don't look back.

Fowler? Psssh he's a dud. He needs to move to LB
Jackson and Allen in the middle? Yessir.
After more though and watching more of game play I'm all for him or Garrett. Cannot go wrong with ether of them

Obligatory superman sack gif.

Yep it'll be quite sad if we don't wind up with Garrett or Allen.

Jackson and Allen would be amazing in the middle. Yanick seems like the real deal so the only question is whether Fowler is best suited to play on the defensive line or be moved to linebacker. With a year of experience and a better coaching staff, he has a chance to be very good once he learns to rush the passer. His run defense is already good.

The Jaguars best chance of becoming relevant next season is to continue to improve the team's current strength- the defense. Add Allen or Garrett to the following players:

Yanick, Jackson, Fowler, Jack, Smith, Poz( still playing at high level), Ramsay, Prince, Colvin, Cyprien and Gipson. This defense will keep the Jaguars in most games, especially once they start getting turnovers (which will come).

So, what about the horrible offense? The new coach needs to find a 'game manager" who will not lose games like Bortles has all season long. The last guy like that was Garrard and he actually took them to the playoffs with a team not nearly as talented on defense as this one. Can Bortles be that guy? It is unlikely based on what we've all seen this year, but he should definitely be brought back to compete with a couple other guys. Caldwell has made some great picks as G.M. as well as terrible ones, but his future as Jaguars G.M. will be determined by who he selects in the off-season (preferably free agency or mid-round draft pick) and whether they can immediately become an effective (don't have to be elite) q.b. if Blake doesn't show vast improvement in the pre-season. None of the current possibilities have had great careers or they wouldn't be available in the first place, but guys like Foles, McCarron and Glennon have had their moments. Caldwell needs to make the correct choice between these guys and have them compete with Bortles, Allen and maybe a mid-round draft pick. Spend the rest of the draft and free agency on building the offensive line to give the winner of the q.b. competition a better chance to succeed.

I know it hurts right now, but let's not settle for a return to the 'glory days' of Garrard. We need to do much better.

Quarterbacks get hot leading up to the draft. Did anyone think Goff and Wentz would go 1 and 2 at this time last year? I don't think so.

I also think someone might reach for Fournette. Hopefully we do end up with Allen or Garret though.

I believed Wentz was going to go #1 overall, before the NFL season ended. I liked him alot, but when Goff started to surpass him, I was shocked. I had Goff rated as a 3rd rounder. I didn't see anything about him that stood out. I still don't. I truly believed Wentz was gong to be a Brown.
