If he does take care of business I could see him breaking some of if not all Jimmy's records.
I dont think he will make it especially with shorts out defenses are going to be gameplanning for him as our main weapon which means double coverage.
If it was me I would do everything I could to stop that slant route by running something like cover 2 man (with a nickel and a single deep safety) trust my outside corners to handle the other wr's man to man, use my olbs to cover the tight end and the rb out the backfield and use my mlb to cover the middle of the field (rotating the zone coverage between olb and mlb depending if blackmon is in the slot or out wide )
In the slot i'd put my most physical corner on press to try and slow blackmon as much as possible and hopefully delay the route enough to make henne read the linebacker across the middle. Outwide I would make the cornor drop off so you can cover the deep route and let the olb squat on the slant.
The jags have been rubbish against as little as a three man rush so hopefully there would be decent pressure meaning as the slant isn't instantly available henne either rushes the throw or checks down or goes outside.. In the slot it leaves you vulnerable to the out route and down the seam. Though you do have a press coverage corner still on him which sort of takes away the out route with our current qb situation and there is a gap to every coverage
Anyway this has been made up by an idiot in 10 minutes with a laptop. I'm certain nfl head coaches and d co-ordinators with years of experience and film on tap can come up with something to slow him down.... when shorts comes back thats when i start to get excited

I'm starting to think maybe he wasn't just being kind.
Can you imagine Blackmon on the current Patriots team? Pretty scary to think especially since he has show great potential with... ehh hemm... whose are QBs again?

I never advocate trading legit stars who have their whole prime ahead of them, so your little attempt at humor is a flop.

Indeed.
You know the old adage "The difference between the good ones and the great ones is - the great ones make it look easy" ?
Well.... there's still a lot of story left to unfold before we get there, but Blackmon does make some very difficult athletic feats look pretty effortless. Shorts apparently made some comments on this topic today as well.

darn it, I made this comment back in the pre-season in that game vs the Jets I think it was, and nobody listened.

Would be interesting to read those comments.

Maybe you have a self esteem issue (nothing to be ashamed of) you seem to need or even crave validation which to a moderate extent is normal. Everyone wants to be validated but if you crave it so much that you come across as not being able to be wrong then it creates a problem. Let's hash this out buddy. What's on your mind?

I remember. Actually - he made a catch on the sideline during that game and avoided a hit while tiptoeing out of bounds that prompted several posters to comment in this same vein.

yeah, I mean he broke out in that Texans game last year, but for some reason the Jets preseason game, he just was looking like a man vs boys out there...

haha, no, I'm just one of those people that for whatever reason everyone remembers everything I say when its wrong but no one ever seems to remember anything I say when its correct/ ahead of the curve. Its just annoying.,...and usually causes me to have to remind everyone. but whatever.... It is what it is. It'll probably always be that way too. Karma is just against me. Always has been.
I don't think he will reach 1000 yards just because he will be on all teams radars now and they will start shifting coverage his way.
Now hopefully he can just behave in the offseason and be ready next year for Teddy

yeah, but we already have been quasi countering this by lining him up in the slot, where he's basically uncoverable.

People notice when you are right - it's just not as much fun to point out as when you are wrong. :woot:
I also think this whole think is greater in your perception than it is in reality, TMD. You don't need to seek validation. If you aren't feeling any after 39,000 posts, it isn't going to suddenly happen here.
He'll reach 1000 yards relatively easy, even missing 4 games. He's developing and still has things to improve on but he's a much better receiver than he was last year. The sky really is the limit for this kid if he keeps his head on straight.
If they can find a good QB, CSIII is healthy, and a receiving threat at TE to take even a little attention away from Blackmon, lookout.

See... this... this right here is not rational thinking. In fact the poster earlier even said you were right earlier. My point is its not good to go around pointing out your always right (regardless if you are or not). It just doesn't gel with people well. As for the karma comment are you implying you have done something to get the reaction from people you think you do?
I can't even imagine what defenses would do if we had a 3 WR lineup of Shorts & Parker on the outside and Blackmon in the slot.
You literally couldn't double any of them without creating a serious mismatch somewhere.

There are ways to get around that and help limit teams abilities to cover him. They did it last week. Keep him moving, he's capable of playing all 3 WR spots at a high level.

no karma meaning just the way things happen for whatever reason.
