I don't see why they didn't start Cassel. AP vouched for him on the last game and said he should be the starter

Quote:Man, freeman stinks like molded cheese and ya'll wanted the Jags to claim him. lol.
I'm glad we didn't claim him but in the same sense he hasn't been with Minnesota long at all. He probably doesn't know a ton of plays. The performance of him was horrible. I think he looked bad too.

He hasn't played in a game in almost a month, and started for a team after being signed two weeks ago. It basically looked like that was the case.

Not knowing the plays still doesn't excuse missing open WR's by 10+ yards.
He was so inaccurate that his errant passes couldn't even be picked off.

I rarely question play calling. But what was Vikings Offensive Coordinator Bill Musgrave thinking when he continued to call passing plays on practically every play when the score was Giants 23-7. Yet, there was with more than enough time to keep Adrian Peterson as an option???? The same Adrian Peterson who was the NFL MVP in 2012! Even though Peterson is dealing with a hamstring issue, he still could have been a difference maker until the conditions the Giants were presenting in the 4th QTR. The Giants were hardly putting a Safety in the box at this point of the game and they were teeing off on an overmatched Josh Freeman.
It will be interesting to see who gets ripped more by Vikings fans for this game, Leslie Frazier or Bill Musgrave? It's hard to imagine either being back in the Twin Cities in 2014 unless they come back with a visiting team or on vacation.

Obviously Leslie Frazier, because he is supposed to know Tampa Bay does not run the same offense, so Josh Freeman barely knew parts of Minnesota's playbook.

Bill Musgrave, lol.....another example of a Jags issue that I was dead right on, and very quickly. How after 10 years, he continues to get NFL OC jobs, is beyond me.

Quote:Nope. Our situation is different. The Vikings made the Playoff last season with freakin Christian Ponder, meaning that they won games despite their bad QB plays. They signed Jennings and drafted Patterson in the first round with the hope of giving Ponder weapons. Obviously, Ponder didn't work out. Their team, overall, is in much better shape than this Jags team. They wanted to give Freeman a new start, so there's no reason to "tank" their season. If Freeman doesn't work out, ohh well, that's a bad acquisition for them and they will draft a new QB this May.
Good post.

Hes starting again next game, curious to see how he does.

Last season might have been Bill Musgrave's best performance as an Offensive Coordinator, as he made the decision to feed Adrian Peterson the ball in the last several games. This despite the opposition coming close to selling all out to contain Peterson as a runner. That formula went along way in the Vikings reaching the playoffs. Why Musgrave made Peterson an afterthought last night is beyond me. That much more puzzling considering the circumstances surrounding Josh Freeman being a long way from having the knowledge basis and timing necessary to execute the Vikings passing game at a winning level.

The Head Coach is ultimately responsible. However, Bill Musgrave has been heavily criticized at times during his time as Vikings Offensive Coordinator and had a subpar game as a Coordinator last night against a Giants team that was 0-6 . In a football context, a sizeable amount of Vikings fans want his head on a platter.

It looks like Josh Freeman is going to miss at least one game. Hopefully, he will make a full recovery in the near future.
As for the Vikings, while they have an uphill battle against the Packers regardless who their QB is, a solid case can be made that Christian Ponder is their best option at least in the short term.

I don't understand this whole thing. Ponder showed promise last season and now it's a giant circus up there. Frazier on the way out after this fiasco?
